Khanh Hoa Department of Education and Training announced the structure and sample questions for math, literature, and English subjects of the 10th grade entrance exam.
On March 11, the Khanh Hoa Department of Education and Training announced that it had issued the structure and sample questions for the 10th grade high school entrance exam from the 2025-2026 school year, based on the 2018 General Education Program.
The 2025-2026 school year is the first year to implement the entrance exam for grade 10 according to the 2018 General Education Program. Therefore, the Khanh Hoa Department of Education and Training issued the exam structure, introduced reference questions for the subjects of math, literature, and English, and requested the education and training departments of districts, towns, and cities to provide professional guidance and implementation for students and teachers to refer to during the review and preparation process for the entrance exam for grade 10.
According to Mr. Le Dinh Thuan, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Khanh Hoa province, the exam content will closely follow the 2018 General Education Program for secondary school level, mainly grade 9, with limited scope of knowledge that will be given in the exam, ensuring the requirements of the program. This is to facilitate students in systematizing knowledge and narrowing down review areas.

The English exam will consist of 40 questions, of which 80% are multiple choice questions and 20% are essay questions, covering general and differentiated levels. Of which, the last 4 questions can be expanded to include all grammar topics common in textbooks.
For math, the exam structure will include 6 questions: Algebra related to simplifying expressions, solving equations, systems of equations, drawing graphs, Viet formulas, solving problems by setting up equations or systems of equations, probability and practical math; Geometry including proving, calculating area and volume; Advanced questions are practical math including equations, inequalities, and inequalities.
The structure of the literature test consists of two parts: reading comprehension and writing. The reading comprehension part, the non-textbook material, is one of three types of text: literary text, argumentative text, and informational text. The reading comprehension question system has 5 questions, including 2 questions at the recognition level, 2 questions at the comprehension level, and 1 question at the application level. Of which, there is 1 question about Vietnamese.
The literature writing section will have 2 questions, 1 paragraph writing question, 1 essay writing question, in the social argumentative essay and literary argumentative essay types.
If the reading comprehension text is a literary text or a literary argumentative text, the requirement to write a paragraph is a literary argumentative text, and the requirement to write an essay is a social argumentative text. If the reading comprehension text is an informational text or a social argumentative text, the requirement to write a paragraph is a social argumentative text, and the requirement to write an essay is a literary argumentative text.
For specialized subjects, the exam questions include questions that are appropriate to the subject's requirements and secondary school goals of the 2018 general education program, ensuring cognitive levels from understanding to application.

For specialized classes in physics, chemistry, and biology, the exam questions for these three subjects will follow the content of the natural science subject at the secondary school level. Specifically, specialized physics classes will take the exam on the content of "Energy and transformation"; specialized chemistry classes will take the exam on the content of "Substance and transformation of matter"; specialized biology classes will take the exam on the content of "Living things".
The structure and sample questions of this year's 10th grade entrance exam are considered to be suitable by teachers in Khanh Hoa province. Students are familiar with these types of questions, but they must also practice good test-taking skills and grasp the requirements to achieve good results. With this question structure, students cannot memorize and do the test like the old program. Therefore, they can avoid the situation of "parrot learning" as before.
