The Department is seeking comments from districts, towns, and the Department of Education and Training on the draft, and is expected to be issued in March.
Specifically, for admission to grade 10, the draft proposes that students can register for a maximum of 8 wishes, including: 3 wishes for regular grade 10; 2 wishes for specialized grade 10 and 3 wishes for integrated grade 10.
The department proposes that students register for admission to grade 10 at public and specialized schools entirely online. Admissions will be conducted in two forms: entrance exam and selection.
The entrance exam applies to high schools in the city, organized according to the instructions of the Department of Education and Training, ensuring a balance between the number of registered candidates and the quota assigned to each school.
For the Continuing Education Center, Thanh An Secondary and High School of Can Gio district, candidates are considered for admission based on their academic records.

Candidates are junior high school graduates in the 2024-2025 school year in Ho Chi Minh City within the prescribed age to participate in the entrance exam to grade 10 of public high schools.
The selection process is carried out in 2 stages:
Phase 1: Students register for 3 priority wishes 1, 2, 3 to take the entrance exam to grade 10 of public high schools (except Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted, Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted, and Ho Chi Minh City National University High School).
Phase 2: Depending on the application status at high schools and the needs of the schools, the Department of Education and Training will decide on additional enrollment and issue written instructions to ensure the rights of candidates, on the basis of recruiting enough enrollment quotas for schools that are still lacking many quotas.
The entrance exam for grade 10 public schools in Ho Chi Minh City will take place on June 6-7. Candidates will take the Math and Literature tests in 120 minutes and the Foreign Language (mainly English) in 90 minutes.
Candidates registering for the entrance exam to the city's specialized high schools must take the 4th subject (specialized subject) with a duration of 150 minutes/subject. Each specialized subject has its own exam according to the secondary school curriculum, the exam content ensures the selection of students with talent in that specialized subject.
