Safe journey, building the future

(QBĐT) - That is the theme of the Traffic Safety Year 2025. To successfully implement the theme, the National Traffic Safety Committee has set out 3 major goals, including: Reducing traffic accidents (TNGT) on all 3 criteria; voluntarily complying with the law and building a culture of safe traffic; overcoming congestion and pollution from traffic activities, not allowing prolonged congestion to occur in large cities and urban areas across the country, main traffic axes and key traffic hubs.

Actively implement 3 goals

The contents of the 2025 Traffic Safety Year theme have been deployed by the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, agencies, units, and localities in conjunction with specific tasks. With the goal of reducing traffic accidents on all three criteria, the functional forces are currently strengthening coordination of many solutions suitable to the practical situation. Although receiving many new tasks, the Traffic Police Department (CSGT), Provincial Police, one of the core forces, has arranged and deployed forces to localities and bases, especially key areas, ensuring closed patrols, strict handling, maintaining order and traffic safety.

Since the beginning of 2025, when the Law on Road Traffic Safety and Decree No. 168 of the Government officially took effect, in which Decree No. 168 on administrative sanctions for violations of road traffic order and safety has increased the penalties for many acts, the awareness of traffic participants has gradually improved. The use of alcohol, running red lights, driving vehicles exceeding the prescribed speed... has been basically limited, the traffic safety "picture" of the province has many bright spots.

The situation of parents not wearing helmets for their children still happens at schools.

Regarding the goal of overcoming traffic congestion and pollution from traffic activities, not allowing prolonged congestion, in Quang Binh, traffic congestion only occurs locally during holidays and Tet. In particular, the Gianh bridge "bottleneck" point before and after Tet has been prepared by the authorities so the congestion does not last long. In Dong Hoi city, to ensure order and traffic safety during the fireworks display to welcome the New Year, at Nhat Le bridge, important intersections and intersections... forces are deployed to regulate traffic promptly.

Make "safe travel" a habit

To achieve the goal of Traffic Safety Year 2025, creating "safe journeys", voluntary compliance with the law and building a culture of safe traffic are among the key contents. Besides the positive changes, there are still some people who have the mindset of dealing with the authorities instead of realizing that strictly complying with regulations on order and traffic safety is to protect themselves and the community.

The images and behaviors that are easily seen are driving at excessive speed, encroaching on lanes, and illegally overtaking… on roads where there are no police officers or cameras to “fine” people. Behaviors such as not wearing helmets, carrying three people, driving abreast… still occur in some villages and schools. During the Lunar New Year, there is still a situation of drinking alcohol and participating in traffic because the police officers are thought to stop patrolling and controlling during Tet or just let it go.

To build a traffic culture and create self-awareness among each citizen, the two core solutions are to strengthen patrols, control, and strictly handle violations to create deterrence and promote propaganda to raise awareness among traffic participants. The fact that the authorities are actively implementing Decree No. 168 and bringing the decree into practice has proven effective.

Deputy Director of the Department of Justice Truong Quang Sang said that the dissemination and popularization of traffic safety laws is one of the key and consistent contents that the Justice sector and the Provincial Council for Dissemination and Education of Laws have paid attention to. Since the beginning of 2025, the Provincial Council for Dissemination and Education of Laws has coordinated to implement many propaganda activities on the Law on Road Traffic Safety and Order, Decree No. 168 to cadres, party members and people. Propaganda continues to be an important solution to contribute to raising awareness and forming self-awareness for people in participating in traffic.
