According to the report of Hai Phong Department of Health, the lunch of workers of Song Cam Shipbuilding Joint Stock Company located in Ngo Hung village, An Hong commune, An Duong district took place at 11:30 a.m. on June 27, 2024.
The workers had lunch at the company with food including: braised chicken, peanuts with oil, braised sea fish, grilled pork with lolot leaves, boiled squash, spinach soup, rice, and watermelon for dessert. After lunch, at 12:22 p.m., about 100 people showed signs of red rashes on their faces and bodies, headaches, and a few cases of nausea, vomiting, stomachaches, and diarrhea.
It is known that the lunch at the above Company has a total of 795 meals, divided into 2 menus, of which 400 meals have the menu of braised mackerel, grilled lolot leaves, squash, spinach soup, rice, watermelon; the remaining meals have the menu of braised chicken, peanuts, squash, spinach soup, watermelon.
By 4:00 p.m. the same day, 127 workers had been transferred to Viet Tiep Hospital, International General Hospital and An Duong District Medical Center for treatment and health monitoring, including: Viet Tiep Hospital 69 people, International General Hospital 30 people, An Duong District Medical Center 28 people; at Song Cam Shipbuilding Company, 51 workers with mild symptoms (itching, red face, mild headache...) were monitored at the Company.
According to the investigation and quick report of Song Cam Shipbuilding Company, most of the workers with the above symptoms had braised sea fish on their menu.
Currently the workers' health is stable.
Immediately after receiving information about the incident, the Director of the Department of Health directed relevant units to be ready to receive patients, assess and triage cases, and regularly monitor treatment at clinical departments. Focus on and mobilize good doctors, ensure adequate medicine and emergency equipment, and promptly handle and treat patients.
Closely monitor patients with severe illness and those at risk of worsening, be ready to consult with a higher level or transfer to a higher level when necessary, and pay attention to health care and encourage patients and their families.
Investigate and determine the cause of the incident according to regulations, trace the origin of the food, take food samples and specimens for testing to find the cause.
Strictly handle violations of food safety regulations (if any) and publicize the results to promptly warn the community.
