At the beginning of the new year, the Information and Communication Publishing House introduced a set of three massive historical books, “Documents between the French Government and the Bao Dai Government”, “Indochina: The Currency War 1946-1954” and “Vietnam Memories from the Battlefield 1946-1954”.

Two books, “Documents between the French government and the Bao Dai government” and “Indochina, the currency war 1946-1954” by Jaques Despuech, translated by Mai Yen Thi, who was awarded the C prize of the National Book Award 2024. The book “Vietnam memories from the battlefield 1946-1954” by author JP Danaud, translated by Chien Kiet.

The book "Documents between the French Government and the Bao Dai Government" is part of the "Dien Bien Phu" book series of the Information and Communication Publishing House.

The book includes agreements signed between the French Government and the Bao Dai Government at that time to build a puppet government in order to return to invade Vietnam after 1945.

In 1949, with the desire to effectively implement Vietnam's independence and sovereignty after signing the Joint Communique in Ha Long Bay (1948), the French Government and the Bao Dai Government signed a number of important Agreements such as the Franco-Vietnamese Agreement signed on March 8, 1949 at the Elysee Palace between representatives of the two sides to clearly define Vietnam's independence within the French Union. The two sides also signed the accompanying Treaties on December 30, 1949.

In order to widely disseminate the contents of these Treaties, the Information and Communication Publishing House and Truong Phuong Development Investment Joint Stock Company have coordinated to translate and publish “Documents between the French Government and the Bao Dai Government”. In this publication, the agreements and commitments between the two sides are presented in detail, helping readers better understand the process of sovereignty transfer.

“Indochina: The Currency War 1946-1954” was written by author Jaques Despuech as an unforgettable reminder of the losses that the war brought, in which both blood and money became tools in the political game and smuggling.

The book is not only a document recording the fierce events of the war, but also a strong voice about the hidden truth behind the shady financial transactions and how the French currency inadvertently contributed to the conflict. Through each page, the author wants readers to understand that the war was not only a confrontation between two sides but also a complex arrangement involving money and politics. The book is a call to end meaningless wars. This is not only a work of history, but also a wake-up call about the value of peace and truth.

The book “Vietnam Memories from the Battlefield 1946-1954” takes readers back to the turbulent period of the Indochina War, when the confrontation between the French army and the Viet Minh forces was taking place fiercely. This book not only focuses on describing the fierce battles, but also delves into the little-known hidden corners – the difficulties in equipment, supplies, and even the mental fatigue of the French expeditionary soldiers.

With documentary images from the battlefield, the book is a valuable document that helps readers better understand a difficult but meaningful historical period in the history of Indochina and Vietnam.
