Forestry Department inspects forest fire prevention and fighting in Kien Giang

Protective forests are managed by Kien Giang Forest Management Board.

On February 17, a working delegation from the Forestry Department (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) inspected forest fire prevention and fighting work during the 2025 dry season in protective forests under the Kien Giang Forest Management Board and forests of Division 4 (Military Region 9) in Hon Dat district (Kien Giang).

Kien Giang Forest Management Board currently manages more than 1,730 hectares of forest, while Division 4 is in charge of more than 900 hectares of forest. After the inspection, Deputy Director of the Forest Protection Department Nguyen Huu Thien highly appreciated the efforts of the units in forest fire prevention and fighting.

Deputy Director of the Forestry Department Nguyen Huu Thien requested Kien Giang province to direct departments, branches, socio-political organizations and localities to deploy synchronous solutions to increase the effectiveness of forest fire prevention and fighting. Specific measures include: zoning key areas with high fire risks, arranging forces and means to be on duty 24/24 hours, increasing patrols, control, propaganda and mobilization of people to raise awareness of fire prevention and fighting, as well as investing in forest fire prevention and fighting works...
