After Typhoon Yagi swept through, Bat Xat Secondary and High School (Bat Xat District, Lao Cai Province) fell into desolation when the boarding house for hundreds of students completely collapsed. In this difficult situation, the "Sowing Seeds of Kindness" program initiated by Vingroup quickly stepped in, sponsored the reconstruction of a new boarding house, creating conditions for students to return to school soon. In addition to rebuilding facilities, the program also demonstrated compassion, accompanying the education sector, helping to restore the lives of people in the highlands after natural disasters.

Bat Xat Secondary and High School is currently the place of study for 705 students from 9 communes in the Northwest region of the district, including remote communes such as Muong Hum, Nam Pung, Den Thang, Y Ty... With more than 500 students from far away, having to travel from 7 to 38 km every day, the school's boarding area is considered their "second home".
However, Typhoon Yagi completely destroyed the school’s 16-room level 4 boarding house and kitchen. Mr. Vu Xuan Que, the school’s principal, said: “We discovered the landslide on the morning of September 9 and immediately decided to evacuate 131 students and 9 teachers from the dangerous area. If we had delayed just 2 hours, a bigger disaster could have occurred when all 16 boarding rooms were buried.”

Currently, 142 students and teachers of the school are temporarily staying at the Pieng Lao village cultural house and Pieng Lao kindergarten, Muong Hum commune. Living conditions are difficult, but with the support of local authorities, militia and police forces, the children have been guaranteed temporary accommodation and necessities.
"Sowing the seeds of Goodwill" join hands to rebuild the boarding house
Faced with the difficult situation of Bat Xat Secondary and High School, the “Sowing Seeds of Kindness” program initiated by Vingroup Corporation has decided to sponsor the reconstruction of the school’s boarding house. The new building will have 5 floors with 30 rooms, enough to accommodate all boarding students.
This reconstruction project will be implemented quickly with the goal of being completed as soon as possible, helping 500 students return to study and live stably. In particular, the program will prioritize completing the boarding area so that grade 12 students have enough time to prepare for the high school graduation exam in 2025.
In addition to rebuilding the facilities, the “Sowing Seeds of Kindness” program also commits to closely coordinating with local authorities and the Lao Cai education sector to ensure that students return to school soon in the best conditions.
Not only stopping at Bat Xat, after completing the project here, the program "Sowing Seeds of Kindness" will continue to survey and support the reconstruction of other schools damaged by Typhoon Yagi in the North. This is an important effort of Vingroup and philanthropists in accompanying the education sector, helping to restore teaching and learning activities in areas severely damaged by storms and floods.
