As a pioneer in the green transformation process in Vietnam, while operating a multi-industry and multi-service ecosystem, Vingroup Corporation and millions of customers and partners decided to launch the "Green Wednesday" campaign. Accordingly, every Wednesday will be the day to encourage the community to make small but practical changes such as limiting single-use plastic products, saving energy, switching to green means of transportation by electric vehicles, etc.
The event was held this morning (February 26) with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the Singaporean Ambassador, representatives of institutes, schools, and businesses and organizations operating in the field of environment and sustainable development in Vietnam. Specifically, Vingroup's member companies and affiliates have implemented a series of incentive programs, green activities and environmental protection initiatives, such as: Vincom committed to promoting programs to collect old plastic bottles and batteries at "Green Regeneration Stations" and discount incentives when customers do not use plastic bags at partner stores; Green SM provides a 12% discount code (up to VND 2,050 million), applicable to Green taxi trips nationwide every Wednesday; V-Green announced a flash sale program with incentives for Green Day, discounts for retail customers registering for franchises; Vinhomes increased attractive activities for residents who are members of the "Green Living - Civilized - Classy" club in each urban area...
Along with that, the Green Future Fund will launch a series of weekly green living challenges on social networks. The program will take place from now until the end of 2025 with a total prize value of up to 600 million VND (details will be posted on the Fund's website).
Dr. Tran Nam Tu - Deputy Director of the Department of Science, Technology and Environment, Ministry of Education and Training highly appreciated the "Green Wednesday" initiative of Vingroup Corporation.
Dr. Le Thai Ha, Executive Director of the Green Future Fund, said: "Vietnam's journey towards the Net Zero commitment by 2050 is not only the responsibility of the Government or large enterprises but also requires the cooperation of every citizen. "Green Wednesday" is a campaign with the spirit of Nationwide - Peoplewide - Comprehensive, aiming to change lifestyles and create a greener future for future generations. When the whole community acts together, small changes can create great power. We hope that the campaign will become a movement and spread widely to all areas of life."
Previously, Vingroup successfully organized and implemented campaigns such as "Fierce Vietnamese Spirit - For a Green Future" (June 2024) and "For a Green Capital" (January 2025). Vingroup employees also took the lead in implementing environmental protection initiatives across the entire multi-industry and multi-service ecosystem, such as pioneering green transformation and electric vehicle travel, demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental protection goals. In particular, in 2024, companies in the Vingroup ecosystem applied a series of green initiatives, contributing significantly to reducing emissions equivalent to nearly 420,000 tons of CO2.
In particular, at Vincom, 100% of shopping centers have deployed charging stations and priority parking spots for VinFast electric vehicles. Vinpearl hotel chains organize "Green Waste" training sessions - classifying waste at source, organizing activities specifically for children such as making toys from recycled plastic...
Dr. Le Thai Ha - Executive Director of the Fund for a Green Future delivered the opening speech at the campaign launch ceremony.
Green lifestyle education is also especially focused on the student generation when 100% of Vinschool facilities are associated with activities such as instructions on waste collection and recycling, practicing water and electricity saving... In addition, Vinmec also drastically implemented Wednesdays every week without using plastic bags at pharmacies, helping to reduce the amount of plastic bags used monthly by 3%, the rate of customers not taking plastic bags when buying medicine on Wednesdays accounts for 76% across the entire system.
Vietnam is facing more serious environmental challenges than ever before, from air pollution, plastic waste to the increasingly evident impacts of climate change. Pollution has had a profound impact on people’s lives and health. To achieve a green and sustainable future for future generations, Vietnam needs the cooperation of the entire community to create real and sustainable changes.
The "Green Wednesday" program continues to be the latest effort to demonstrate Vingroup's pioneering role. This is also a concrete action in the effort to realize the Government's commitment to Net Zero by 2050, contributing to building a prosperous Vietnam in harmony with nature.
