(Dan Tri) - Immediately after its launch, the "Green Wednesday" campaign initiated by the Green Future Fund (Vingroup) quickly created a positive effect, spreading the trend of thinking green - acting green - living green in the community.

"Green Wednesday" includes many practical activities, with the participation of member companies of the Vingroup ecosystem such as Vincom, Xanh SM, V-Green and Vinhomes... along with a series of green living challenges on social networks with a total prize of up to 600 million VND.

When old stuff gets a second chance

Ms. Nguyen Huong (36 years old, Nha Trang) shared that in the past, in her family, plastic bottles were often thrown away with household waste. But now, they are all neatly arranged by family members in a corner of the house, waiting to be brought to the "Green Recycling Station" at Vincom Plaza Le Thanh Ton to start a new life cycle.

Not only plastic bottles, old batteries, old newspapers or unused clothes are now collected, sorted and recycled by Ms. Huong's family instead of being thrown away. This change in habits is partly due to the impact of "Green Wednesday" - a campaign that is spreading and attracting the participation of the community.

"The campaign is both a challenge for each person to overcome their habits and create a new green lifestyle. For my family, this is how we are giving old objects new life," Ms. Huong shared.

Not only stopping at the recycling collection program, the "Green Wednesday" campaign also brings a series of green workshops (talks), instructing people to turn old items into unique products.

"Not only did I learn how to recycle old clothes into cloth bags, turning them into new items for myself. I also realized that living green is not difficult, as long as I am willing to change," said Ms. Hoang Vy (24 years old, Hanoi) - a customer participating in the workshop at Vincom Mega Mall Times City.

Many people are also given the opportunity to access green transportation. Specifically, every Wednesday, in response to the campaign, Xanh SM offers customers incentives of up to 12% (maximum 2.05 million VND/trip).

Ms. Nguyen Thuy Van (34 years old, Hanoi) said that thanks to this great incentive, Xanh SM has become her top priority.

"Taking an electric taxi at this time is very beneficial, it saves money, avoids the sun and rain, reduces dust and smoke, and also helps protect the environment," Ms. Van shared.

Green SM's response to "Green Wednesday" encourages people to change their transportation habits, towards a sustainable lifestyle, contributing to reducing environmental pollution, helping Vietnam soon achieve the Net Zero goal by 2050.

According to Ms. Phan Thi Hong Dung, Deputy General Director of Training at GSM Company, if all people in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (about 17.6 million people) choose green vehicles, in just one day, the amount of emissions reduced would be equivalent to 5.6 billion trees over 15 meters tall photosynthesizing.

"In addition to planting trees and waiting 10-20 years for the trees to mature, photosynthesize and purify the air, each of us can travel by green means every day, contributing to reducing toxic gas emissions and preserving fresh air," Ms. Dung emphasized.

The spirit of "Green Wednesday" is not only spread through practical activities in Vincom shopping centers, to Xanh SM's transportation service, but also reaches the living space of each family in Vinhomes urban areas.

Ms. Nguyen Thanh Mai (28 years old), a resident of Vinhomes Ocean Park 1 (Hanoi), said that without waiting for this campaign to be launched, green living has become a habit of the whole family since joining the Green Living - Healthy Living Club right in the urban area.

The appearance of the campaign helps each individual once again raise awareness of environmental protection, while inspiring creativity in many unique ways of green living.

Ms. Mai added that not only her family, but also since the "Green Wednesday" campaign, the green living spirit of the Vinhomes community has increased strongly.

On forums and social networks, or in community activities, many families and young people enthusiastically plan to respond to the weekly green living challenge series; "Turn off the lights - Go green" - save electricity and water with simple but meaningful actions right in March.

"Green Wednesday" is a meaningful program that is contributing to spreading awareness about environmental protection, helping each individual realize that every small action today will create a sustainable future tomorrow.

The program also demonstrates Vingroup's role in joining hands to realize the Government's commitment to Net Zero by 2050, contributing to building a prosperous and sustainably developed Vietnam.
