The Prime Minister requested to improve the recruitment and remuneration mechanism so that teachers receive salaries commensurate with their efforts, especially in preschools and remote areas.
"The teaching profession is noble, so what is the appropriate remuneration policy so that teachers can work with peace of mind, constantly strive and contribute to the country's education, especially in remote, border and island areas?", Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said when meeting with representatives of outstanding teachers on the afternoon of November 17 in Hanoi.
The Prime Minister praised teachers who have many scientific articles and won international awards such as Ms. Hoang Thi Thai Hoa (Hue University), Mr. Le Anh Tuan (Phenika University), Mr. Nguyen Hai Nam (Hanoi University of Pharmacy)... Teachers who have trained many excellent students to bring glory to the country's education such as Mr. Hoang Van Nam (Ha Tinh), Mr. Le Duc Thinh (Hai Phong)...
The Government leaders expressed their admiration for the teachers who persevered through streams, over passes, and carried letters to the highlands, remote areas, borders, and islands. Many teachers sacrificed themselves for the love of their students, persevered in staying in remote villages, eating, living, and working with the people, and going to each house to encourage students to go to school, such as teachers Lau Y Pay (Nghe An) and Pham Thi Hong (Yen Bai), and teacher Vu Van Tung (Gia Lai).
"The Government always understands, sympathizes, and shares the difficulties and hardships of teachers over the past years, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic," said the Prime Minister.

Mr. Chinh shared his concerns that the fourth industrial revolution poses a series of problems for the education sector. How can we combine learning with practice, improve the quality of human resources, increase labor productivity and economic competitiveness? What solutions can we provide students with basic knowledge while creating conditions for them to develop their talents?
At the meeting, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said that the work of developing teachers is facing many challenges. Teachers' lives are difficult, especially those in remote areas. The structure of teachers is unbalanced between subjects at the same level and regions with different socio-economic conditions.
"There is a shortage of teachers in many localities. The quota for allocating teachers to most places is lower than the actual demand. Recruitment of general teachers is inadequate and not timely. There is a lack of mechanism to attract and retain teachers in the profession. The salary of newly recruited teachers is still low," Mr. Son pointed out a series of issues.
The Ministry of Education and Training is surveying the working regime of general education teachers and policies for public preschool teachers and staff. From these results, the Ministry will propose specific policies to improve the material and spiritual life of school administrators, teachers, staff and workers.

From July 1, kindergarten teachers of grade III will still receive the lowest salary, from nearly 3.8 to more than 8.8 million VND per month depending on the level. This level is about 0.6-1.5 million VND higher than before. Primary, secondary and high school teachers of grade I will receive the highest salary. Of which, those who are applied with a salary coefficient of 6.78 will receive more than 12.2 million VND per month.
Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son has repeatedly proposed an urgent increase in teachers' salaries to improve their lives and reduce job losses.
Discussing at the National Assembly in early November, delegate Ha Anh Phuong (teacher at Huong Can High School, Thanh Son District, Phu Tho Province) proposed to set the highest teacher salary in the administrative and career salary table and to have additional allowances according to the nature of the job.
Answering questions from delegates afterwards, Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra said that when reforming salary policy, priority will be given to placing teachers' salaries at the highest level in the salary scale of the administrative and career sector.
