On March 7, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Liaison Committee of the Southwest Pedagogical School held the 8th traditional meeting of the Southwest Pedagogical School (T3) during the period of resistance against the US to save the country, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong and Ms. Dang Huynh Mai presented letters of gratitude to the teachers' relatives.
Speaking at the meeting, People's Teacher, Dr. Dang Huynh Mai, former Deputy Minister of Education and Training, Head of the Liaison Committee of the Southwest Pedagogical School, said that with 14 years of training in the war zone, from 1961 to 1975, the Southwest Pedagogical School provided about 600 teachers and educational administrators for the Southwest provinces.
The students of this school are proud of their teachers, who have gone through challenges from the fire of the battlefield to crossing the Truong Son mountain range from the North to Ca Mau cape, with countless hardships.

People's Teacher, Dr. Dang Huynh Mai said that over the past 50 years, patriotism, compatriotism, national spirit, and revolutionary spirit are still full in the hearts of teachers and students. The resistance teachers with "Singing to drown out the sound of bombs" and songs that accompanied the years have created success for the teacher training school in the cajuput and mangrove forests...
"Over the past 50 years, the school has created a force of resistance teachers as the core of the teaching staff and management staff of the industry," emphasized Dr. Dang Huynh Mai.
Attending the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, shared that this was an opportunity for generations of teachers of the Southwest Pedagogical School to review the heroic and enthusiastic days and spread the revolutionary flame from the generation of teachers and students of the pedagogical schools during the resistance war against the US to the generation of teachers and pedagogical students today.
"This activity contributes to lighting the fire of enthusiasm and strong will of the young generation in working and studying, actively contributing to the cause of educating people," Mr. Cuong shared.
The Southwest Pedagogical School was the only pedagogical school during the entire resistance war against the US in the Southwest when the Southern revolution had just passed through major turning points: Dong Khoi was successful, many southernmost areas had formed liberated zones. The top concern of the Southwest Regional Party Committee at that time was to take care of the material and spiritual life of the people, to build a cadre team to prepare a force with educational qualifications, to create an important human resource for the requirements of the revolution.
With that meaning, in 1961, the Education Subcommittee of the Southwest Region, under the direction of the Propaganda Department of the Regional Party Committee, opened a training course for educational cadres. The first training course was opened in Ca Mau in the mangrove forest area, Tan An commune, Ngoc Hien district.
During its 14 years of existence and operation (from 1961 to 1975), the Southwest Region Pedagogical School opened 14 classes, including 7 classes for training educational staff and 7 classes for training teachers with about 600 students in the educational staff course and hundreds of primary and secondary teachers.
