Japanese professor receives title of “Honorary Dong Khoi Citizen” of Ben Tre province

With his active contributions and dedication to the construction and development of Ben Tre province, Professor, Doctor of Medicine Nagato was awarded the title of "Honorary Dong Khoi Citizen" at the ceremony celebrating the friendly cooperation between Ben Tre and the Japan Cleft Lip and Palate Foundation (JCPF) held on March 24, 2024.

According to the People's Committee of Ben Tre province, in the first round of evaluation and awarding of the title "Honorary Dong Khoi Citizen" in 2021, Professor, Doctor of Medicine Nagato Natsume was one of two Japanese citizens honored to receive this noble title.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nagoto Natsume expressed his gratitude to the leaders, departments and people of Ben Tre for always supporting and helping the activities of the JCPF. Every business trip to the province is like coming home to him, this place is like his second hometown.

Within the framework of the program, the People's Committee of Ben Tre province awarded a certificate of merit from the Government to 1 individual and 8 certificates of merit from the People's Committee of the province to 8 groups and individuals of the JCPF Association. This is the recognition and gratitude of Ben Tre province for the practical contributions in both material and spiritual terms of the JCPF Association to the people and children with cleft lip and palate in the locality.

At the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Be Muoi highly appreciated the activities of the JCPF Association as an effective, long-lasting and very practical humanitarian charity program with great social significance. She hoped that in the near future, the JCPF Association will continue to cooperate and provide long-term support to Ben Tre province.

JCPF was established in April 1993. During its 30 years of operation in Ben Tre province, JCPF has screened, provided treatment advice to more than 2,000 patients with deformities and performed cleft lip and palate surgery on 1,462 patients, mainly children. The association also provides cleft lip and palate prevention medicine for pregnant women, supports medical equipment and transfers technology to the medical team at Nguyen Dinh Chieu Hospital in Ben Tre province.
