(Fatherland) - The above information was given at the seminar "For Vietnamese children to grow up with a pressure-free childhood" organized by the Institute of Educational Sciences - Ministry of Education on the morning of March 13 in Hanoi.

At the Seminar, Prof. Dr. Le Anh Vinh - Director of the Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences, Ministry of Education and Training, talked about the pressures of students today. In particular, as the Head and Deputy Head of many Vietnamese student delegations participating in the International Mathematics Competition, Prof. Dr. Le Anh Vinh realized that, for primary school students, achieving high scores, becoming champions or winners is a goal that is too small and easy to achieve.

Prof. Dr. Le Anh Vinh - Director of Vietnam Institute of Educational Sciences spoke at the seminar.

"The higher and more difficult goal to achieve is for children to develop comprehensively, grow up with a carefree and innocent childhood, and develop their full potential without any pressure," said Professor Le Anh Vinh.

In modern society, children are facing many pressures from study, family and society. These pressures not only affect their mental health but also reduce the joy and innocence of childhood.

According to UNICEF research, the mental health and psychosocial well-being of children and adolescents in Vietnam is facing many challenges. Academic pressure, family expectations and social competition are the main factors causing this situation.

Another study by UNICEF also showed that school is one of the most important environments that affects children's psychosocial development. Children spend most of their time at school, which provides factors that affect their mental health. However, the pressure of studying at school is also one of the causes of stress and other psychological problems for children. Study pressure not only affects children's mental health but also causes serious consequences for their physical health. According to a report, many students have to study more than 10 hours a day, leading to only sleeping less than 8 hours a day. Prolonged sleep deprivation can cause many health problems such as fatigue, impaired memory and concentration, and even cardiovascular problems.

In addition, family pressure is also an important factor. Many parents tend to have too high expectations for their children, wanting their children to achieve outstanding results, to be number one, to be champions, to be proud. However, this inadvertently creates a huge psychological burden for children.

An activity at the seminar

At the Seminar, many ideas were put forward to help solve this situation.

According to Vice President of the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Children's Rights Ha Dinh Bon, it is necessary to continue to perfect the system and widely disseminate and propagate policies and laws on child protection and care; There are appropriate forms such as developing, compiling, and training for families, parents, and children on skills, child psychology, skills in protecting, caring for, and educating children...

Educational institutions fully implement laws on education and the system of legal policies on child protection and care; carry out educational reforms, apply science and technology in teaching...

"Families and parents must study and equip themselves with knowledge and skills in child care and education, and social psychology for children, thereby having a scientific way of raising children, understanding and assessing their children's abilities, talents and capabilities, not following trends, unrealistic aspirations, and not putting pressure on their children. Do not abuse parental rights, misunderstand how to love and care for children to put pressure on children, forcing them to follow their parents' wishes" - Mr. Ha Dinh Bon shared.

According to Mr. Ha Dinh Bon, each child must also understand their rights and responsibilities to fulfill their duties, participate in learning and working appropriately according to their age; not put pressure on themselves, have a sense of learning; have a spirit of cooperation, not compete, have love for grandparents, parents, and friends.../.
