On November 22, in an interview with Al Arabiya TV channel, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that US President-elect Donald Trump could reach a solution to the conflict in Ukraine, but Russia only relies on itself and is confident of victory.
"We take into account the fact that President-elect Trump is a pragmatist. Trump has publicly stated that he will make efforts to end this conflict as soon as possible and he can do this, because all the keys are available in Washington," Medvedev said.
At the same time, the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council stressed that Moscow does not place its hopes on Mr. Trump or anyone else. Russia relies only on "its own strength, both in terms of defense capabilities, in terms of the outcome of this conflict and our certain victory in this conflict, as well as in terms of building relations with other countries."
Donald Trump won the US presidential election on November 5 against Democratic candidate Kamala Harris. His inauguration will take place on January 20, 2025.
Previously, Mr. Trump has repeatedly stated his intention to end the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible.
