According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Director of Hai Au Phat Enterprise, in the world market, oil prices last week decreased by nearly 7%, breaking the strong increase of the previous 2 weeks. This is also the week with the strongest price decrease since the beginning of the year.

This week, world oil prices are trending up but have not yet reached the $80/barrel mark.

" In this context, if the regulatory agency does not affect the gasoline price stabilization fund, domestic gasoline prices could decrease by VND800-1,000/liter. Diesel prices could decrease by VND400-500/liter, kg, " said Mr. Thang.

Gasoline prices are expected to drop sharply in the afternoon of February 8. (Illustration: Cong Hieu).

Sharing the same forecast, Ms. Phung Thi Hong, Director of Hong Minh Petroleum Enterprise, said that domestic gasoline prices are likely to decrease following world prices. The decrease could be 900 - 1000 VND/liter for gasoline prices and 400 - 600 VND/liter, kg for oil prices. In case the Ministry of Industry and Trade - Finance draws from the price stabilization fund, gasoline prices may decrease less.

If the above forecast is correct, domestic gasoline prices will have their first decrease after four consecutive increases.

In the most recent petrol price adjustment (February 1), petrol prices were adjusted up across the board. Of which, RON95 petrol price increased by over VND24,000/liter.

Specifically, E5 RON92 gasoline increased by 742 VND/liter, not higher than 22,913 VND/liter, RON95 gasoline increased by 753 VND/liter, up to 24,160 VND/liter.

Diesel oil increased by 623 VND/liter, not higher than 20,999 VND/liter; Kerosene increased by 379 VND/liter, not higher than 20,923 VND/liter and fuel oil price increased by 593 VND/kg, not higher than 16,087 VND/kg.

In this operating period, the operating agency decided to set aside a price stabilization fund for fuel oil at 300 VND/kg (as in the previous period), and not set aside a fund for gasoline, diesel and kerosene.
