Specifically, the price of E5 RON 92 gasoline increased by VND374/liter, to VND20,431/liter; RON 95 gasoline increased by VND273/liter, to VND21,019/liter.

Similarly, oil prices were also adjusted up during this period. Specifically, diesel 0.05S price: increased by 488 VND/liter, at 19,243 VND/liter; kerosene increased by 410 VND/liter, at 19,244 VND/liter; fuel oil 180CST 3.5S increased by 83 VND/kg, at 16,182 VND/kg.

In this management period, the Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance did not set aside or use the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund for E5RON92 gasoline, RON95 gasoline, diesel oil, kerosene, and fuel oil.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the average price of finished petroleum products in the world between the price adjustment period on January 2, 2025 and the adjustment period on January 9, 2025 is: 83,360 USD/barrel of RON92 gasoline used to blend E5RON92 gasoline (up 2,055 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 2.53%); 85,992 USD/barrel of RON95 gasoline (up 1,387 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 1.64%); 90,308 USD/barrel of kerosene (up 2,310 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 2.63%); 92,218 USD/barrel of 0.05S diesel oil (up 2,740 USD/barrel, equivalent to an increase of 3.06%); 455,206 USD/ton of 180CST 3.5S fuel oil (up 2,736 USD/ton, equivalent to an increase of 0.60%).

On the world market at 6:00 a.m. on January 9, Brent oil price decreased by 89 cents, equivalent to 1.16%, to 76.23 USD/barrel. US WTI oil price decreased by 93 cents, equivalent to 1.25%, to 73.32 USD/barrel.

Oil prices fell today, weighed down by a significant increase in U.S. gasoline and diesel inventories over the past few weeks. Fuel inventories have increased as refineries continue to ramp up production. Gasoline inventories rose 6.3 million barrels to 237.7 million barrels in the week ended January 3, more than four times analysts' expectations for a 1.5 million barrel increase, according to data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Distillate inventories also rose by 6.1 million barrels to 128.9 million barrels, more than 10 times analysts' expectations for a 600,000-barrel increase. In contrast to the increase in gasoline and distillate inventories, US crude inventories continued to record a weekly decline, falling 959,000 barrels to 414.6 million barrels, more than five times analysts' expectations for a 184,000-barrel decrease.

Also weighing on oil prices is a stronger US dollar, which makes oil more expensive for holders of other currencies.

In the most recent adjustment period (January 2), the prices of all types of gasoline and oil (except fuel oil) were adjusted up by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance.

Specifically, the price of E5 RON 92 gasoline increased by VND240/liter, to VND20,057/liter; RON 95 gasoline increased by VND199/liter, to VND20,746/liter.

Diesel 0.05S price: Increased by 125 VND/liter, at 18,755 VND/liter; kerosene increased by 126 VND/liter, at 18,834 VND/liter; fuel oil 180CST 3.5S increased by 129 VND/kg, at 16,099 VND/kg.

In this management period, the Ministry of Industry and Trade - Ministry of Finance did not set aside, set aside, or spend the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund for E5RON92 gasoline, RON95 gasoline, diesel oil, kerosene, and fuel oil.

The room for the petroleum price stabilization fund of some key enterprises still recorded a large positive level due to many operating periods without using the fund. The fund balance as of the end of the second quarter of 2024 was VND 6,061 billion, down VND 18 billion compared to the previous quarter and the fifth consecutive quarter of decrease. Compared to the end of 2023, the fund balance decreased by nearly VND 600 billion.
