(GLO)- On the morning of June 8, at the Gia Lai Province Continuing Education Center, the Department of Education and Training (GD-DT) organized a training conference on teaching the first phase of the literacy program for managers and teachers.
Attending the opening ceremony of the conference were Mr. Tran Ba Cong - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training; representatives of the Department of Secondary Education, Political Education and Continuing Education (Department of Education and Training) and over 120 reporters and students who are managers and key teachers at the provincial and district levels.

During the 2 days (June 8 and 9), the reporters will introduce the objectives, contents, and requirements of the first phase of the literacy program (National target program for socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas) for the subjects: Vietnamese, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences; introduce the lesson structure, content/learning topics. Managers and teachers participating in the training will also be guided to organize educational activities in the direction of developing qualities and capacities for students studying the first phase of the literacy program in accordance with the characteristics of the subject; guide the design of lesson plans and practice teaching some contents in the direction of developing qualities and capacities of learners.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training Tran Ba Cong informed: During the implementation process (from August to December 2022), agencies and units assigned to teach literacy encountered difficulties in finding sources of documents and learning materials to include in the teaching plan, meeting the requirements as prescribed in Circular No. 33/2021/TT-BGDDT dated November 26, 2021 of the Ministry of Education and Training. The Department of Education and Training also sent an Official Dispatch requesting the Ministry of Education and Training to provide guidance on teaching materials for the literacy program. Therefore, this training session is very important, moving towards organizing mass training and widely implementing the program in June 2023.
For the conference to be effective, the Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training requested the reporters to divide the class into 3 groups (40 students/group); fully and specifically implement the training content; guide the completion of training products (24 products for each subject) and send them to the class organizing committee on June 14. The participating managers and teachers must focus on absorbing and interacting actively to complete the practical products in class as required.

It is known that according to Plan No. 1602/KH-UBND dated July 21, 2022 of the Provincial People's Committee to implement the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development of Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2030 period in the province, Phase 1 (from 2021-2025), it is expected that the whole province will open 715 literacy classes, mobilizing 23,475 people to participate in the study. Up to now, the province has had 3 localities implementing the program, including: Krong Pa (7 classes), Pleiku (5 classes), Phu Thien (3 classes) with 320 students.
