Recorded case of suspected rabies due to dog bite in Ngan Son

The patient is Mr. LPT, 47 years old, currently has symptoms of convulsions, panic and a poor prognosis. According to epidemiological investigation information, on November 12, 2024, Mr. T. was bitten by a dog at home but only washed the wound with clean water without getting a rabies vaccine. This dog had shown signs of not eating for a week, had not been vaccinated against rabies and died three days after biting the person.

On March 3, 2025, Mr. T. experienced symptoms such as pain in the wrist - the bite site, pain spreading to the shoulder and head, accompanied by fatigue, insomnia, fear of water, fear of wind. After that, the patient gradually fell into a state of irritation, drooling, screaming and difficulty eating and drinking.

On the morning of March 13, medical staff from the Provincial Center for Disease Control visited the patient's family to conduct an epidemiological investigation, collect samples for testing and send them to the Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology to determine the disease./.
