The conference was organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Information and Communications, co-organized by the Department of Information Security, the International Federation of Online Authentication - FIDO Alliance (headquartered in the US) and VinCSS Cyber Security Services Joint Stock Company (under Vingroup).
With the theme "Connecting the region for a secure digital future with strong passwordless authentication", the event opened up many opportunities for cooperation and frank exchanges between representatives of governments, associations, businesses and communities to jointly plan strategies to deploy strong passwordless authentication technology into life. Thereby contributing to protecting the digital transformation process to take place quickly and sustainably throughout the region.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Tran Dang Khoa, Deputy Director in charge of the Department of Information Security, authorized by Mr. Nguyen Huy Dung, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, commented: "Digital transformation brings about remarkable achievements, especially for the economy, contributing to the prosperity of humanity". However, in recent years, information security in general and authentication identification in particular have increasingly become a major challenge when the password authentication method has shown many shortcomings. Mr. Tran Dang Khoa also said: "Vietnam and other countries in the region are in the process of transitioning from traditional authentication to strong passwordless authentication, the goal is not only to enhance network information security but also to help reduce operating costs and optimize the user experience for digital products and services".

Sharing the same view, Mr. Do Ngoc Duy Trac, General Director of VinCSS Company, also affirmed right from his opening speech: "The authentication method according to the global open industry standard FIDO2 is leading an irreversible wave of transformation worldwide, because this is the only technology today that fully addresses all three aspects of authentication, which are: safety, reasonable cost and bringing the best experience to users. Currently, all Big Tech such as Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Intel, Meta... have joined the FIDO Alliance and played an active role, and have supported this technology on their product and service platforms.
In addition, with the orientation of popularizing and socializing digital services, including strong passwordless authentication, the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam has decided to send the Department of Information Security as a representative to participate and become one of the 10 government-level members of the FIDO Alliance, alongside other information technology "powerhouses" such as the US, UK, Australia, South Korea, etc.

With support and advice from FIDO Alliance's world-leading team of experts, Vietnam will focus on three pillars: Building and promulgating appropriate policies; Promoting public-private partnerships; Regional and global cooperation in an effort to raise awareness and build common capacity.

When asked about the reason for choosing Vietnam as the venue for the first FIDO Asia-Pacific conference, Mr. Andrew Shikiar - FIDO Alliance Operations Director said: "Vietnam was the obvious choice after we carefully discussed the options, because this country possesses all the necessary elements for stakeholders to gather, discuss and develop plans for the implementation of strong authentication technology. With strong innovations in the IT field and impressive investment growth rate, Vietnam is becoming a vibrant center for the development and application of new technology solutions."

In addition, at the conference, VinCSS signed 7 cooperation agreements with domestic and foreign enterprises to immediately join hands and deploy passwordless authentication more deeply and widely in Vietnam as well as the whole region.
