On April 8, the Logistics Department of Military Region 9 organized the delivery of fresh water from Can Tho City to support people in drought and salinity-affected areas in Ca Mau province.

Many local people were very happy to receive free water storage equipment and fresh water from the units.
"Every month my family spends about 500,000 VND to buy fresh water for daily use," Mr. Viet (46 years old, living in Thoi Binh district) shared when his family has not been able to exploit underground water for the past 2 months.
Like Mr. Viet's family, many other households have had to buy fresh water for use in recent months due to the severe drought and saltwater intrusion.
"We would like to thank the soldiers and local authorities for proactively providing fresh water to support people in this difficult time," said a resident of Thoi Binh district.
Faced with the ongoing drought and salinity situation in the Mekong Delta in general and Ca Mau province in particular, the Logistics Department of Military Region 9 used 3 ships to transport about 1,700m3 of fresh water to supply people in the districts of Thoi Binh, Tran Van Thoi and U Minh of Ca Mau province.
This is to stabilize life, share some of the difficulties with the people, and contribute to ensuring social security. In addition to Ca Mau, it is expected that many other localities will also receive water support from the military.

Ca Mau province has more than 2,600 households lacking fresh water due to drought. Many places have difficulty accessing water sources due to the inability to exploit groundwater, dry canals, subsidence of roads, traffic disruption, etc.
