In order to apply technology to the management, preservation and promotion of cultural heritage values, on May 17, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center and the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Information Technology Center (Hue CIT) integrated technology to identify 10 Nguyen Dynasty artifacts at the Hue Royal Antiquities Museum.

The artifacts are embedded with NFC chips and uniquely identified using Phygital Labs’ Nomion technology. Visitors can use their smartphones to interact with the NFC chips attached to the artifacts, opening up multi-dimensional interactions with all historical information, origin, cultural significance, 3D images, etc. of the artifacts.

Unlike QR codes currently used to store information, the Nomion NFC chip attached to the relic has the ability to encrypt data, is highly secure and anti-counterfeit, ensuring uniqueness and a 1-1 link between the physical version and the digital version. At the same time, with Blockchain technology, the digital version of the relic carries the value of ownership certification as well as creating digital assets from real assets such as relics.

Selected to be identified as typical antiques, characteristic of the Nguyen Dynasty kings and mandarins such as: throne, palanquin, shoes (royal objects used in daily life and ceremonies), gold branches and jade leaves (used for interior decoration), or a set of pink tattoos (pastime)...

With the goal of strongly promoting Vietnamese culture globally and exploiting the digital economic potential of heritage, the first digital cultural exhibition space about Nguyen Dynasty relics has also appeared on metaverse at: museehue.vn. The relics that have been digitally identified will be simultaneously displayed in the digital space for users to visit and admire the full 360 degrees of the item. When users interact with the item in the virtual universe, there will be information and stories or legends about that item.

Notably, this digital space has integrated Apple Vision Pro, leading the wave of extended reality (XR) technology pioneered by Apple and Meta.

According to representatives of the units, by bringing the digital space museum to the world, Vietnam will promote its heritage to global visitors, especially the more than 20 million people who own devices such as Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest in the world.

The representative of the Hue Monuments Conservation Center said that they will continue to compile content such as scanning/taking pictures of artifacts, aiming at digital museums according to each topic and each time, helping global visitors to be able to view and learn information with a layout, color, and vivid sound similar to visiting a real museum or exhibition.

According to Mr. Nam Do, Director of Technology of Phygital Labs, with this digital exhibition, tickets can be sold to increase revenue from the digital customer base that is currently lacking attractive cultural and historical content. In addition, the owner can also sell certified replica (version) antique products to digital customers in need.
