Catholics in Yen Binh join hands to protect the environment

Yen Binh district currently has 6 parishes, 21 chapels, and 2 religious orders of the Lovers of the Holy Cross Community. legally operating in the district. Of these, there are 5 parish priests, 172 officials with 10,910 parishioners, accounting for about 10% of the district's population, living in 15 communes and towns. In addition, there are 8 Protestant parishioners of the Evangelical Church of Vietnam residing in Han Da and My Gia communes.

In the past time, religious activities in the district have been stable in accordance with the provisions of law. The dignitaries, officials, and parishioners have always complied with the Party's guidelines, the State's policies and laws, actively participated in patriotic emulation movements, campaigns launched by all levels and sectors, competed to develop family economy, eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, and enrich themselves legitimately, contributing to the overall socio-economic development of the district.

Up to now, many communes in the district with a large Catholic population such as Han Da, Bach Ha, Bao Ai, Mong Son, Yen Binh... have all reached the new rural finish line, people's lives are improving day by day, the appearance of the countryside is changing day by day.

Mr. Hoang Van Tu - Secretary of the Party Committee of Yen Binh Commune, Yen Binh District said: Yen Binh Commune is one of 15 communes and towns with Catholics. Of which, there is 1 parish, 2 chapels with nearly 2,000 Catholics, accounting for about 27% of the commune's population. Yen Binh Commune, Yen Binh District reached the new rural finish line in 2019, with that achievement thanks to the great contribution of Catholics.

Thanks to the joint efforts of authorities at all levels and the people of Yen Binh commune, the commune has reached the new rural destination since 2019. Since then, the people's lives have been improved, with average income per capita reaching 36 million VND/person/year.

Traffic is convenient, the roads in the commune and the roads from the commune center to the district and the province are all asphalted; the main roads of villages, hamlets and inter-village roads have been asphalted and concreted. People actively participate in public cleaning sessions, clean up the environment together, plant trees and flowers to create a landscape, build bright, green, clean and beautiful village roads and alleys.

Priest Nguyen Cong Binh - Parish Priest of Yen Binh, Yen Binh Commune shared: “In Yen Binh Commune, we always encourage parishioners to live a good life, respect God and love the country, and comply with the State's policies and laws, contributing to the district's construction of a new rural district. Along with that, we also actively call on parishioners to live in solidarity to build a material and spiritual life, especially calling on people to do business. We also hope to continue to connect with local authorities to build our homeland better and better.”

In addition, political organizations in the district have actively promoted propaganda and mobilized dignitaries, officials, and Catholics to promote the tradition of solidarity, self-reliance, and mutual assistance. Since then, Catholics have done many practical things to contribute to the construction of new rural areas and civilized urban areas.

District leaders and Catholics participate in tree planting

Ms. Phan Thanh Yen - President of Yen Binh District Women's Union said: Implementing the movement of joining hands with the district to build new rural areas, build and improve environmental criteria. The District Women's Union as well as other organizations have implemented many programs and tasks.

In particular, following the campaign to build the "6 no's, 6 clean's" model in the area and the "5 no's, 3 clean's" model launched by the Central Association, the Association has implemented specific works such as: Planting flowers, planting trees on both sides of the road, launching periodic environmental sanitation in villages and building the "5 no's, 3 clean" model.

The “5 no, 3 clean” model: No poverty, no law violations and social evils, no domestic violence, no population policy violations, no malnourished children and dropouts; clean house - clean kitchen - clean alley.

The “6 no, 6 clean” model: No poverty, no law violations and social evils, no domestic violence, no population policy violations, no malnourished children, no school dropouts, no early marriage and incestuous marriage; clean house, clean kitchen; bathroom, toilet, clean water; clean alleys, clean roads, clean environment.

“In addition, the grassroots associations have actively promoted and educated members and parishioners to understand the Law on Environmental Protection and the criteria for building a "5 no, 3 clean family" and the criteria for building a "6 no, 6 clean" model. The association will strive to continue to have many specific activities such as: Planting trees and flowers in residential areas, each family raising their sense of responsibility in collecting and treating household waste, not throwing bottles and pesticide packaging into fields, canals, ditches, ponds and lakes causing environmental pollution", Ms. Phan Thanh Yen shared.

Along with that, Yen Binh district always closely directs the Party committees of communes and towns to regularly coordinate with dignitaries and officials to propagate, mobilize and guide people and followers to participate in programs and goals of local socio-economic development, maintain environmental hygiene and create bright, green, clean and beautiful landscapes.
