Singer Thanh Tai: "Tradition is never old"

- Known as a million-view singer, owning many MVs with over a million views, how does Thanh Tai feel about the audience's reception?

- Nothing is more precious than the love of the audience. Every view, every compliment, every emotional look from the listener is the motivation for me to continue to contribute. I am happy to sing, to preserve the soul of the country in each song, and to accompany the hearts that love folk music. The journey to art is indeed arduous, but the passion for folk music has helped me get to where I am today.

- Pursuing folk lyrical music, possessing a beautiful, bright, deep and delicate voice, how has singer Thanh Tai renewed songs about Nghe An in particular and lyrical songs about his homeland?

- I do not innovate, but only add fire to what is already very beautiful. My voice is a bridge between folk material and modern performance, so that young people can feel the love of the folk songs and vi verses. Nghe An in me is not only my homeland but also an endless source of inspiration - I sing with the heart of a child far from home, so that whoever listens can see themselves in it. Nghe An is my flesh and blood, so when I perform works with the folk music and folk music of Nghe An, I am very passionate and live with the most genuine emotions and feelings.

- Most young singers today often pursue pop music, which is easier to create "hits" and become famous, while Thanh Tai persistently pursues folk music. What makes Thanh Tai so persistent with this music genre?

- Folk music is the soul of the nation, the voice of our ancestors. I chose this path because I want to preserve that spiritual heritage, so that the younger generation does not forget their roots. It is not because I do not love pop music, but because I believe that only when the soul of the homeland is preserved, can music truly touch the hearts of Vietnamese people. Each person has a choice of their own artistic path, I am passionate about folk music, especially folk songs from Nghe An because that is my homeland, my flesh and blood.

- Thanh Tai also performs revolutionary lyrical songs very differently. How did you create such a deep impression?

- When singing revolutionary music, I sing with the memories of soldiers, with the nostalgia of children far from home. Each revolutionary song is not only a melody but also history, the blood and tears of our ancestors. I do not sing with simple techniques, but with the love of a soldier - so that the song resonates as a gratitude for the silent sacrifices. When performing songs about my homeland, I feel happy and proud to contribute a voice of love for my homeland and country.

- When singing duets with singer Thanh Quy, singer Ha Quynh Nhu... Thanh Tai sees what singers who are passionate about folk music - lyrical songs of the homeland have in common?

- We are similar in our boundless love for our homeland. Although each of us has a different voice and style, we share the same heart, a heart that is moved by the rice fields, the river and the songs of our grandmothers and mothers. That is the invisible thread that connects these rustic artists.

- With more than 10 years of artistic activities and many successes, what message does Thanh Tai want to send to young people who want to pursue this artistic path?

- Love music with sincerity, don't forget your roots because of flashiness. True art doesn't need to be flashy, it needs patience, humility and a heart that knows how to listen. If you are passionate enough, walk with true emotions - because only true love can touch the hearts of others.

- Thanh Tai's MV "Flickering Lam River" has just been released and has been loved and highly appreciated by the public. After this MV, what are Thanh Tai's plans for 2025?

- I will continue my journey of spreading the love of folk songs with a new album about my homeland, along with charity programs for people in remote areas. In particular, I cherish a project combining folk music with modern music, so that the younger generation can see that: Tradition is never old. I hope that my musical products will bring to the audience love for their homeland and hometown. The root of each person is their homeland. Music about their homeland is the anchor, the deepest love that each person needs to nurture and cherish.
