I met Ms. Pham Thi Hang, owner of Diep Hang sesame cake production facility, in Van Ha village, Duc Phong commune (Mo Duc) when she was preparing products to supply to Co.opmart Quang Ngai. Ms. Hang shared that in December 2024, the facility's sweet sesame cakes and salty sesame cakes were recognized as 3-star OCOP products. Thanks to that, in addition to promoting and consuming locally, Ms. Hang has also introduced the products to the market in Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces of Binh Duong and Gia Lai.

Currently, her facility produces 100 bags of cakes every day, equivalent to 50kg of products (sugar, sesame, oil and some spices). To ensure delicious and high-quality products, she buys sticky rice in August, when farmers have just harvested. As for sesame, she buys it in May and June, when the seeds are plump and delicious, so she buys a large quantity, usually about 1.5 tons. Thanks to her meticulousness in production and processing, Ms. Hang's traditional products of sweet sesame cakes and savory sesame cakes are popular in the market, bringing in high revenue. Currently, Ms. Hang's production facility provides jobs for 4 local workers.
In the efforts of traditional product production establishments, localities in the province are also interested in creating favorable conditions for product consumption. For example, in Tu Nghia district, up to now, 21 traditional products have met the 3-star OCOP standard. Most of the products have been registered for quality standards and have barcodes.
Vice Chairman of Tu Nghia District People's Committee Doan Viet Van said that after traditional products were recognized as OCOP, the district created conditions for establishments to sign contracts to consume products with distribution and retail units, and sell on e-commerce platforms. At the same time, it encouraged establishment owners to participate in fair programs and trade promotion activities to promote products. Thanks to that, some products have been exported abroad. For example, bowls, plates, and spoons made from areca spathe have been present in the domestic market and exported to the US and Singapore.
According to the Department of Industry and Trade, by the end of 2024, the whole province will have 260 products recognized as OCOP products, mainly traditional products. Of these, there are 2 potential products meeting 5-star standards, 16 products meeting 4-star standards and 242 products meeting 3-star standards. In order for OCOP products and local traditional products to reach further, in addition to calling on production facility owners to continue to improve quality, change product designs and packaging, the department will continue to organize training courses on brand building, sales skills, and increase voting for typical local traditional products. In addition, the department will proactively act as a connecting point, providing a list of domestic and international traders and enterprises for production facilities in the province to link up to consume products.
