Attending the meeting, on the Vietnamese side, there were leaders of the Department of Foreign Market Development, the Electricity Department and representatives of the Department of Industry, the Department of Multilateral Trade Policy.
On behalf of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long expressed his joy and welcomed Mr. Laurent Saint-Martin to work at the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long affirmed that Vietnam and France have a long-standing traditional relationship, and both sides share the desire to consolidate and enhance the Vietnam-France Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, continuously developing in all areas, especially energy and trade.
At the meeting, Mr. Laurent Saint-Martin discussed the key areas and important cooperation contents that the French side wants to implement in the coming time to promote the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and France. Mr. Laurent Saint-Martin affirmed that France always attaches importance to and wishes to further strengthen the cooperative relationship with Vietnam, especially in the fields of economy, trade and energy. The French Minister suggested that the two sides continue to promote cooperation in the field of energy, especially nuclear energy because this is a field in which France has strengths in technology and is ready to support Vietnam in technology transfer and human resource training.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long also agreed with Minister Laurent Saint-Martin on promoting energy cooperation between the two countries in the coming time and acknowledged France's commitments to support Vietnam in the past. The Deputy Minister also emphasized Vietnam's great need for capital, technology and human resource training in the energy sector. Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long shared and highly appreciated France in developing the nuclear energy sector. The Deputy Minister said that Vietnam and France have many close relationships, especially the large number of Vietnamese experts and students who have been well-trained in France will become an effective bridge to promote cooperation between the two countries in many fields.
In addition, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long highly appreciated the activities of a number of large French corporations and companies in the energy sector in Vietnam, and affirmed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade always creates favorable conditions and supports and expects the utmost efforts from the opposite side for EU enterprises in general and France in particular to achieve the best results.
At the end of the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long affirmed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to closely coordinate with the French Embassy in promoting economic, industrial and energy cooperation between the two countries in the coming time.
