On the morning of February 28, at the Diplomatic Academy, a workshop on the topic "Human rights in US foreign policy: Impact assessment and policy recommendations for Vietnam" took place.

The workshop is an activity within the framework of the topic “Human rights in US foreign policy: Historical and practical approaches”, chaired by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thai Yen Huong (Faculty of International Politics and Diplomacy, Diplomatic Academy). This is part of the research program “US foreign policy trends to 2030 and recommendations for effective implementation of the framework of the Vietnam - US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership” chaired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The workshop was moderated by Dr. Nguyen Hong Quang, Deputy Director of the Department of Americas, Head of the Research Program, and Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thai Yen Huong. The event attracted the participation of many experts and scholars in the field of US studies, democracy and human rights, creating an important forum for discussion on the historical and practical aspects of human rights policy in US foreign affairs.

Within the framework of the Workshop, delegates discussed human rights factors in US foreign policy; the ideological foundation and values that shape the human rights characteristics in US foreign policy; the US approach to human rights issues in foreign policy; the relationship between human rights and US national interests; the role of education and media in promoting human rights through US foreign policy...
Regarding Vietnam-US relations, delegates analyzed the human rights situation in Vietnam-US relations; human rights in US foreign policy under President Donald Trump's second term and the impact on Vietnam-US relations as well as the role of human rights dialogue in bilateral relations.
The Party and State of Vietnam have a consistent policy in ensuring human rights. Vietnam is ready to have open, frank, cooperative and constructive dialogue with all countries, even on differences, to enhance mutual understanding, and is ready to share good experiences in ensuring human rights.
Vietnam has organized 28 rounds of human rights dialogue with the US revolving around a number of prominent issues such as basic rights, rights of vulnerable groups, religious freedom... helping the two countries understand each other's human rights policies and reduce disagreements on human rights issues.
