The “Boarding School – Happy Home” project is a meaningful initiative funded by the European Union (EU) , implemented through World Vision International in Vietnam (WVIV) , with a total budget of up to 658,907 USD (equivalent to about 15.8 billion VND ).

The project is designed with three core objectives , aiming to bring positive and sustainable change to the educational environment in the highlands:

1. Promote active participation of students and parents , ensuring access to quality child protection services.

2. Build capacity for local authorities, education sector and schools in providing and maintaining essential services for children.

3. Mobilize the power of the community and stakeholders to work together to build a safe, friendly and nurturing school environment.

The project will be implemented from February 2025 to September 2027 , aiming to improve ethnic minority students' access to child care and protection services, especially at secondary boarding schools.

14 ethnic minority boarding secondary schools in Dien Bien Dong, Muong Cha, Tuan Giao and Tua Chua districts will be direct beneficiaries of the project. The total number of beneficiaries is estimated at 49,700 people , of which more than 19,000 are direct beneficiaries , including:

  • 6,531 boarding students ,

  • 438 teachers and education staff ,

  • With more than 12,400 parents .

The project does not only stop at improving learning conditions but also aims to build a boarding school model that truly becomes a "happy home" - where children can study, be protected and develop comprehensively in terms of physical, mental and life skills.

Speaking at the launching workshop, Mr. Cu Huy Hoan , Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Dien Bien province, shared:

“The project not only supports facilities, but also creates a safe, healthy and sustainable educational environment for students in remote areas. With the support of WVIV and close coordination between relevant agencies, I believe the project will bring about practical changes, helping ethnic minority students access essential services and develop comprehensively.”
