After three nationwide virtual filtering rounds, many majors of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education and Gia Dinh University increased by 1-3 points compared to last year.
Dr. Tran Thanh Thuong, Head of Admissions and Student Affairs Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education , said on August 18 that after three nationwide virtual screenings, many majors such as Information Security, Information Technology, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, E-commerce, and International Business had benchmark scores of 26 and above - the highest in the school and with an increasing trend. Last year, benchmark scores for these two majors ranged from 26 to 26.75.
"The benchmark scores for popular majors may be higher than last year, as the number of applications to the school has doubled," said Dr. Thuong. This year, the total number of applications to the school is more than 70,000, with 14,000 first-choice applications, double the enrollment target.
The group with the lowest benchmark scores at the school currently includes the majors of Printing Engineering Technology, Environmental Engineering Technology, Thermal Engineering Technology, Infrastructure Operations Management, and Materials Technology, ranging from 20-22, an increase of at least 3 points. In 2022, these majors will have benchmark scores of 17-18.7.
Gia Dinh University also recorded an increase in admission scores after three rounds of virtual filtering. Dr. Mai Duc Toan, Director of the University's Admissions and Communications Center, said that admission scores are expected to increase in some hot majors such as Multimedia Communications, Business Administration, and Information Technology. The increase is about 1-2 points compared to last year.
He explained that these majors attract many candidates with good test scores to register. The remaining majors have little fluctuation, and the admission score can be equal to the minimum score.
This year, the school's admission threshold is 15 for the general program and 18 for the talent program. This is also the school's admission threshold last year, with the general Information Technology major requiring 15.5 points.
The official benchmark scores of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education and Gia Dinh University will be announced right after the virtual screening ends, expected on the evening of August 20.
Previously, many other schools in Ho Chi Minh City such as University of Finance and Marketing, Economics and Law, Industry and Trade, and Industry also predicted that the benchmark scores for many majors would decrease by 0.5-2 compared to last year.
This year, more than 660,000 candidates registered for university admission with a total of 3.4 million wishes. Because a candidate can register for many wishes, the virtual filtering is to determine the highest wish that the candidate is eligible to be admitted.
In each virtual filtering, the system filters out candidates who have passed higher choices to other schools from the list. This process is done 6 times, ending on the afternoon of August 20. Therefore, from the evening of August 20, many universities can announce the standard scores.
If admitted, candidates must confirm their admission online on the Ministry's system from August 22 to before 5:00 p.m. on September 6. Schools are not allowed to ask candidates to confirm before the above deadline.
