According to information from Ho Chi Minh City National University, the competency assessment exam organized by this university in 2024 will continue to develop in a stable and sustainable direction.

The exam will be held in two rounds before the high school graduation exam: round 1 is scheduled for April 7, 2024 and round 2 is scheduled for June 2, 2024.

In addition to 21 locations as in 2023, Ho Chi Minh City National University plans to add 2 testing locations in Binh Phuoc and Tay Ninh provinces in 2024.

Ho Chi Minh City National University also plans to continue expanding the scale of the competency assessment exam in 2025; at the same time, it will adjust the exam structure to suit the new General Education Program.

The Ho Chi Minh City National University Competency Assessment Test was first held in 2018, with the goal of selecting students with good abilities, in line with the comprehensive educational philosophy. The test aims to assess candidates' important abilities for university study such as: language use, logical thinking, data processing, problem solving, etc.

After 6 years of organization, the scale and quality of the exam have been increasingly affirmed. The number of registered candidates has increased steadily each year: in 2018, there were nearly 5,000 candidates from about 616 high schools, by 2023, this number was more than 100,000 candidates from 1,815 high schools. The number of registrations for the exam in 2023 increased by 9% compared to 2022 and increased by more than 50% compared to 2021.

In 2018, the exam was organized within the scope of Ho Chi Minh City National University with 7 member universities. By 2023, 47 universities and colleges nationwide had participated in the organization. The number of schools registering to use the exam results also varies from year to year, from 7 schools in 2018 to 97 schools in 2023.
