The Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City has just reported on the results of implementing tasks in the first 6 months of the year in the fields of labor, meritorious people and social affairs in the city.

Accordingly, the Department has completed 9/19 assigned program and plan contents, with no late content.

At the same time, the targets and tasks of the labor sector achieved some positive points compared to the same period in 2022 such as: the employment rate increased by 0.21%; the rate of new job creation increased by 0.25%; the acceptance of collective labor agreements increased by 7.1%; the acceptance and appraisal of registration of labor regulations of enterprises increased by 15.3%; vocational training for rural workers increased by 26.84%...

Specifically, in June, economic sectors created jobs for 26,521 people, of which 11,950 were new jobs. Since the beginning of the year, economic sectors have created jobs for 163,122 people (54.37% of the plan), with 72,935 new jobs (52.1% of the plan).

The number of Vietnamese workers sent to work abroad increased by 1,009 compared to the same period in 2022. This result shows that the labor export situation is showing signs of improvement. Traditional markets such as Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea have opened their doors to receive workers, creating opportunities for workers to have more choices in finding jobs.

From the above results, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City assessed: "The city's labor and employment situation shows signs of gradual recovery."

According to the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City, in the first 6 months of the year, the city recorded 2 cases of businesses cutting or reducing labor in large numbers.

First, Dong Minh Knitting Company laid off 342 workers due to the company's dissolution.

Second, Pouyuen Vietnam Co., Ltd. agreed to terminate labor contracts with 2,247 workers due to a decrease in export processing orders.

For the above two cases, the Department has directed the City Employment Service Center to approach businesses to organize unemployment insurance policy consultation sessions and provide job referrals for employees right at the businesses.

Strikes and work stoppages during this period also decreased in number of cases and participants compared to the same period in 2022. If only counting from after Tet until now, there have been no strikes or work stoppages in the city.
