A shower of awards for Vietnam's "Pearl Island"
At the 31st WTA Awards, Phu Quoc Island once again surpassed strong competitors to be honored as the World's Leading Nature Island Destination 2024. This is the third consecutive time Phu Quoc has been named by WTA in this category thanks to its extremely rich, diverse and charming natural resources that are unmatched anywhere else.
At this year's WTA awards ceremony, Phu Quoc also won two other prestigious awards for high-class tourism projects. Accordingly, for the first time, the World's Leading Iconic Tourist Attraction 2024 Award was given to Sunset Town - an entertainment complex with a total investment of thousands of billions of VND and is the busiest destination in Phu Quoc today.
During the day, Sunset Town is like a giant outdoor art museum, with romantic sunset-colored neighborhoods designed in a motif of gradual steps towards the sea, to rows of brilliant bougainvillea and European-style works of art. Every sunset, the whole town awakens true to its name, every corner becomes gorgeous in brilliant orange-red colors and an endless world of entertainment opens up at night. Visitors will have a busy schedule with the first night market by the sea in Vietnam, bustling restaurants, beer pubs and bars along the coast. The town also treats visitors to international-class art shows: Kiss of the sea - a world-class multimedia show combined with artistic fireworks displays 365 days a year; Symphony of the sea – A show of sports and fireworks every night… to performances with traditional Vietnamese cultural influences: Loving Vietnam.
Also at this award ceremony, the Kissing Bridge located in the bay of Hoang Hon Town, Phu Quoc was honored for the first time as the World's Leading Iconic Tourist Bridge 2024. Launched in 2021, the Kissing Bridge is a sea walking bridge created by Sun Group and designed by talented architect Marco Casamonti - founder of Archea Associati, Ambassador of Italian Design Day 2020. Considered a symbol of connection, the bridge has a unique design consisting of 2 branches with 2 bridge tips 30 cm apart, a distance just enough for a hug, handshake or kiss and is an ideal place for couples to record happy moments of love.
Phu Quoc - The world's new tourist paradise
2024 can be called the year of Phu Quoc's bumper harvest of titles, when previously a series of prestigious awards in the world tourism sector had named Vietnam's Pearl Island. A typical example is the title "The 2nd most attractive island in the world" voted by the American magazine Travel + Leisure. Most recently, on November 25, in the vote of the top 25 most worth-visiting destinations in 2025 by this magazine, Phu Quoc continued to be on the list.
Not only has Phu Quoc been continuously honored by international media and received a "shower" of awards, its attractiveness is being proven through specific figures. According to a report from the Department of Tourism of Kien Giang province, Phu Quoc city is expected to welcome up to 5.96 million tourists in 2024, reaching a higher level than before the Covid-19 pandemic. Every week, Phu Quoc welcomes more than 150 international flights, including many new flights from key markets such as Korea, Thailand, Taiwan and in December, Singapore.
The impressive results are showing that the position and reputation of the Pearl Island is increasingly rising on the international tourism map. With the attention of the Government, local authorities and strong investment from strategic investors, Phu Quoc is possessing "privileges" that few destinations in Vietnam have, such as a 30-day visa exemption policy for international visitors, entertainment complexes with the largest total investment in Vietnam such as Sunset Town, Grand World... with a series of international-class festivals and events.
Most recently, Sun Group added to its Sun Paradise Land tourism and resort ecosystem the 5-star Eschuri Vung Bau Golf, the high-class beer restaurant Sun Bavaria Bistro at the central beach of Hoang Hon town, and the Symphony of The Sea show, which offers a 20-minute fireworks display every night and an exciting "competition" of the world's Jetski and flyboard champions and runners-up.
In addition to tourism infrastructure to meet the increasing demands of domestic and international tourists, Phu Quoc focuses on attracting investment in developing social infrastructure. Most recently, the island city launched two major projects in the South of the island: Bai Dat Do public beach under the An Thoi International Sea Square project and Mat Troi Hospital, meeting the needs of high-quality medical examination and treatment for all ages, so that tourists can rest assured with their whole family when vacationing, staying long-term or settling down on the "Pearl Island".
Continuously being recognized by prestigious international awards promises to help Phu Quoc continue to rise in rank, becoming a leading tropical paradise in the region, a new Phuket and Maldives of the world that no tourist would want to miss./.
