The program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Quang Binh province not only brings solid homes, but also demonstrates the spirit of solidarity and responsibility of the whole community, including the role of those working in the Front.
2,150 houses were newly built and repaired
Responding to the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses" launched by the Prime Minister, on November 21, 2024, the Quang Binh Provincial Party Committee issued Resolution No. 14, aiming to complete the task before October 2025. According to the review, the whole Quang Binh province still has 2,154 households in need of support, of which 1,120 households need to rebuild and 1,034 households need to repair.
Throughout the residential areas of Quang Binh province, the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is being vigorously implemented with the participation of the entire political system, in which the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels plays a core role. Immediately after the Resolution was issued, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Binh province proactively coordinated with the Provincial People's Committee to review and make a list of households in need of support, mobilize resources from the Central, local and socialized sources.
After more than 2 months of implementation (by the end of February 2025), Quang Binh province has started construction of 605 houses, including 342 newly built houses and 263 repaired houses. In addition to the budget of 71.37 billion VND from the Provincial People's Committee, localities have mobilized more than 1.28 billion VND and 1,210 working days from the community.
These spring days, the Ma Coong ethnic people in Con Roang village (Thuong Trach commune, Bo Trach district) welcomed great joy when 11 of the most disadvantaged households received new houses. This is a result of the efforts of the Party committees, authorities, and the Fatherland Front in implementing the policy of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for the people, demonstrating their responsibility for the community.
Quang Binh province is striving to complete the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses for nearly 2,150 poor and near-poor households in the province before October 2025, practically welcoming the Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term.
Community Engagement Front
Implementing the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Bo Trach district and its member organizations have actively mobilized support from businesses and philanthropists, helping to increase the support level from 60 million VND/household to 90 - 100 million VND/household for new construction.
The Vietnam Fatherland Front of Thanh Trach commune has had creative ways, such as organizing a fundraising art night that raised 120 million VND, helping 7 disadvantaged households to have new houses. Ms. Hoang Thi Thao Uyen - Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Trach commune said: "After calling for support from organizations, individuals, and philanthropists at the art night, the commune held a meeting and allocated funds to households to promptly build and repair houses. Thanks to that, with the budget of the Central, the province and socialized sources, newly built households were supported with over 100 million VND/household, and households repairing from 40 - 50 million VND/household".
Talking about the role of the Front in implementing the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, Mr. Le Cong Cuong - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Binh province said: Immediately after the Prime Minister launched the emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025", the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province actively coordinated with the Provincial People's Committee to develop a project and documents to implement the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the area.
The unit has also proactively directed the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at district and commune levels to coordinate with the authorities to review and compile a list of poor and near-poor households living in temporary and dilapidated houses in accordance with regulations. At the same time, it has directed the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels to coordinate with the authorities to select at least one household in each commune to organize a groundbreaking ceremony to simultaneously demolish temporary and dilapidated houses throughout the province.
The Quang Binh Provincial Fatherland Front has also coordinated with the Department of Finance to guide the process and procedures for building new and repairing houses. In particular, the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee has issued a document to mobilize and guide the District-level Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and member organizations to mobilize businesses, philanthropists, and individuals inside and outside the province to join hands to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses. Up to now, many organizations, businesses, and philanthropists have supported and committed to support, and the Quang Binh Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee has received more than 13 billion VND in support of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses.
Don't expect or rely on anyone.
Despite many positive results, the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Quang Binh still faces many difficulties. The biggest challenge is funding. With a support level of 60 million VND/household for new construction, many mountainous localities still struggle to implement because the construction costs are much higher. In addition, the number of poor and near-poor households who are ethnic minorities increased by 1,195 households compared to the initial figures, causing the need for funding to increase.
Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Ninh district Pham Thi Bich Hue shared: "We are trying to mobilize more social resources to increase the support level to 100 million VND/household, ensuring that people truly have a solid and safe roof."
Towards the goal of completing the elimination of more than 2,150 temporary and dilapidated houses before October 2025, the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels in Quang Binh province continues to coordinate with local authorities to expand resource mobilization and supervise construction; at the same time, continue to propagate to arouse the spirit of self-reliance, not waiting or relying on others among the people.
It can be affirmed that each new house is not only a place to live, but also a symbol of solidarity and unity so that "no one is left behind".
