The leaders of the Party, State and Ministry of Public Security have directed agencies from the central to local levels to focus on investigation forces and stabilize security and order in the area.

Based on the investigation results, so far, the authorities have determined that due to lack of knowledge, economic difficulties, and personal problems, a number of ethnic minority people in Dak Lak were incited and enticed by reactionary exiles in the US, such as Y Mut Mlo, Y Cik Nie, Y Nien Eya, Y But Eban (Y Be Eban), Y Chanh Byă, Y Sol Nie, etc., using many propaganda, incitement, and enticement tricks.

There were 92 subjects who participated in terrorist activities, 1 subject who concealed criminals, 1 subject who organized and brokered for others to illegally exit, enter or stay in Vietnam.

During the investigation, the subjects repented and honestly confessed to their crimes. They admitted that they participated in criminal activities due to backwardness, lack of knowledge or being threatened and asked the Party and State to consider leniency and reduce their sentences.

The investigation, prosecution, and trial preparation were conducted objectively, fairly, and in compliance with the provisions of law. Based on the investigation results, the prosecution agencies decided to bring 100 defendants to trial.

Of these, 53 defendants were tried for terrorism against the people's government, 39 for terrorism, 1 for concealing criminals, 1 for organizing and brokering for others to illegally exit, enter or stay in Vietnam. 6 defendants abroad were tried in absentia for terrorism.

Ms. H'Yim KĐoh emphasized that the Dak Lak Provincial People's Court will evaluate the entire case to decide on appropriate punishments for each defendant. Thereby, it will ensure both strict and deterrent trials, as well as leniency, education, and humanity of the law; at the same time, it will correctly reflect the Party and State's guidelines and policies on ethnicity and religion.

After the verdict, Dak Lak Provincial People's Court will coordinate with domestic and foreign authorities to transfer the six wanted criminals back to the country to serve their sentences.
