Nguyen Xien - Xa La route (also known as Chu Van An Avenue) was opened to traffic in February 2020. The project surrounds the Chu Van An memorial area, with a total investment of nearly 1,500 billion VND and a length of more than 2.5 km.
Chu Van An Avenue is built under the BT (build-transfer) form, located between Hoang Mai district and Thanh Tri district (Hanoi city).
Up to now, the overpass and the intersection with Highway 70 to Xa La Street - the last section of Chu Van An Avenue - are "shelved" because the land has not been cleared, causing frequent traffic congestion at this intersection due to "bottlenecks".
Mr. Pham Cuong, a resident who regularly travels on Chu Van An Street, said: Some people lack awareness, they throw away plastic bottles, nylon bags, leftover food, construction waste... are familiar images on this street. Therefore, this area has become messy, losing urban beauty, polluting the environment, causing traffic safety problems as well as causing a lot of frustration for people living nearby and for passersby.
Many people share the same opinion: The government needs to step up propaganda, detect and strictly handle cases of intentionally dumping construction materials on the street, eliminate encroachment on sidewalks for parking lots... only then can the streets be green - clean - beautiful.
Photo series recorded by reporters at Chu Van An Avenue:
Garbage situation in many places on Chu Van An street A series of restaurants and stalls occupying the streets and sidewalks Spontaneous parking lot next to Tan Trieu K Hospital Illegal parking lots occupy sidewalks, obstructing pedestrian movement. Construction waste is piled up, making the road messy. The bunkers are part of the Yen Xa Water Plant construction project. These bunkers appear almost all over the motorbike and non-motorized vehicle lanes. Somewhat obstructing traffic. Manhole covers and gas pits on Chu Van An Avenue are all designed higher than the road surface. Both sides of the sidewalk have been turned into garbage dumps and overgrown with trees. The types of waste collected cause serious environmental pollution. Construction waste thrown on the road causes traffic safety problems The overpass project connecting Phuc La - Van Phu road and the intersection of Highway 70 is still unfinished due to site clearance problems. Environmental pollution from garbage and loss of urban beauty on the billion-dollar road The route is about 2.5 km long but there are no signs prohibiting dumping, causing many sidewalks to become spontaneous, foul-smelling dumps.
