Congress of the Vietnam Pictorial Photographers Association for the 2024-2029 term

(NADS) - On December 13, the Congress of the Vietnam Pictorial Artists Association for the 2024-2029 term took place solemnly. Artist Tran Thi Thu Dong, President of the Vietnam Pictorial Artists Association attended and directed the Congress.

Also attending were Artist Xuan Chinh, Executive Committee member, Head of Exhibition Creation Committee, Vietnam Association of Artists.

The Vietnam Pictorial Artists Association at the beginning of the 2019-2024 term had 08 members, including 02 senior members who were exempted from activities and membership fees from the beginning of the term, namely Artist Tran Huu Minh and Artist Ngo Du. In July 2022, Artist Nguyen Van Thanh passed away. Thus, by July 2022, the Association still had 07 members, however, Artist Tran Huu Minh had asked not to participate in activities for many years due to his old age. The Vietnam Pictorial Artists Association had 4 members holding positions in the Association's professional committees such as: Artist Nguyen Van Thanh (passed away in 2022), Artist Pham Tien Dung, Artist Vu Duc Tan participated in the IX LLPB Committee. Artist Nguyen Thang participated in the IX Art Council.

The Vietnam Pictorial Association has a new generation of photojournalists who have received basic training in photography, are sensitive to new science and technology, and are a replacement force, continuing the tradition of previous generations for the development of the Newspaper.

Artist Tran Thi Thu Dong, President of the Vietnam Association of Artists, delivered a speech directing the Congress.

Regarding photography movement activities, the Association as well as its members still actively and regularly participate in general artistic photography activities, specifically:

- Members Nguyen Van Thanh (until July 2022), Vu Quoc Khanh, Vu Duc Tan participate in teaching at the Photography Department of the University of Theater and Cinema, Academy of Journalism and Propaganda.

- Branch members such as Vu Quoc Khanh, Pham Tien Dung, Nguyen Thang participate in imparting journalism and photography skills to professional training courses of a number of agencies and of VNA.

- Member Vu Quoc Khanh, participated in editing and publishing many photo books for the Central Party Committee, Government, National Assembly and many Ministries and Departments.

- Members Pham Tien Dung and Nguyen Thang participate in the Jury of many national, regional, provincial and industry photo contests...

In addition, the Association is also the direct organizer of the VNA Press Awards, the Golden Moment Press Photo Awards, and the Heart Technology Awards organized by VNA, which are also prestigious competitions for photography in general and press photography in particular.

The 2019-2024 term of the Vietnam Pictorial Association also had many changes: 99% of the association members have retired, which has significantly affected the association's activities. Currently, the association only has member Nguyen Thang who is still working at Vietnam Pictorial until the end of 2025. Creative activities and common activities have not been organized yet, members mainly go to compose individually or in their own groups or follow the association's creative camps.

President of the Vietnam Association of Fine Arts Tran Thi Thu Dong presented flowers to congratulate Artist Nguyen Thang on becoming the Branch President for the 2024-2029 term.

At the Congress, the members set out the direction of activities for the 2024-2029 term, in which the core task with top priority is to train and foster human resources for Vietnam Pictorial in general and for the Vietnam Pictorial Association in particular. Specifically, in the coming term, the Association needs to regularly help and encourage young reporters to participate in photo contests to be eligible to join the association. The target is that in the 2024-2029 term, 02 reporters will be admitted to the Association. At the same time, other reporters will be encouraged to actively participate in contests to gain points to soon become members of the Vietnam Pictorial Association.

In addition, encourage members to actively participate in activities contributing to the photography movement in their responsible positions in the Central Association and professional activities of the agency. Continue to contribute, actively participate in the Association's activities and implement the Resolution of the 10th Congress of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, which will be passed at the upcoming Congress of Delegates.

With high consensus, the Congress elected the Branch President, journalist - NSNA Nguyen Thang.
