Announcing the structure of the 2025 high school graduation exam

At the end of December 2023, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the sample test questions for 17 subjects of the 2025 high school graduation exam. The Ministry said the test questions were designed to assess competency, in line with the 2018 general education program.

Because the 2018 program has just been implemented to grade 11, the illustrative questions mainly use knowledge from grades 10 and 11. The Ministry added that the questions in the questions "try to be associated with meaningful contexts", that is, close to life and scientific practice.

2025 is the year when the first batch of students under the new general education program will take their graduation exams. Currently, the high school graduation exam is organized with 6 subjects, including Math, Literature, Foreign Language, Natural Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) or Social Science (History, Geography, Civic Education). Thus, from 2025, the number of exam subjects will be reduced by two and the number of exam sessions will be reduced by one.

Regarding the method of considering and recognizing high school graduation in 2025, the Ministry said that it will combine the results of the assessment process and the results of the graduation exam at an appropriate rate. In addition, the exam will maintain the paper-based exam format until 2030, after 2030, a pilot computer-based exam will be conducted with multiple-choice subjects.
