On the evening of August 12, the Hue Ao Dai Festival 2023 "Stories from a River" took place on the poetic Huong River of Hue, promising to bring the audience eye-catching performances.
Not simply an Ao Dai show, Hue Festival 2023 is a unique and most novel Ao Dai art performance ever, with a combination of fashion-singing-dancing-music elaborately staged.
Famous Ao Dai designers from all over the country bring to the Festival the most special Ao Dai collections, associated with the story of the Huong River - a legendary river, a historical river, a symbol of culture, music, poetry and painting.
The stage of the Hue Ao Dai Festival 2023 is set on the Huong River, but does not repeat the previous performance locations. The entire performance space will combine underwater, on the shore, sand dunes, grass and flowers on the river and in the air...
All performances are staged and choreographed to reflect the cultural characteristics of Hue. The audience will enjoy unique Ao Dai collections along with music and famous songs about the river and Hue folk songs. Some works are newly harmonized and arranged to preserve the melodies and tones of Hue while still being in line with the trend of modern art appreciation.
The Hue Festival 2023 Ao Dai Festival is designed with 3 chapters: "The epic of the great forest"; "Epic written among the green grass and leaves" and "As long as there are mountains, water, and length".

The overall program is a story about the Perfume River with its dreamy nature, romantic moon and water, peaceful, gentle and graceful town, charming appearance, nostalgic folk songs, Hue - The place of thousands of poems.
The story about the river is also the idea and material for designers to create Ao Dai with patterns, colors, trees, flowers, traces of time; the epic about a river, an ancient town, a modern city... associated with Ao Dai over the years.
In chapter 1, "The epic of the great forest" is a medley of music and dance combining images and stage art, showing the beauty of the land and sky, the scenery is both majestic, wild, lyrical and captivating.
The performances exploit the colors of nature, the great forests, rapids of the majestic Truong Son mountain range, the passionate red of A rui flowers, the long miles of brilliant red rhododendron flowers in the primeval forest, and the costumes of the ethnic groups in the upper reaches of the Huong River, Ta Oi, Pa Co, and Co Tu.
Chapter 2 "Epic written among the green grass" continues to be a unique combination of music and dance, continuing the profound story from the Perfume River.
The performances combine images and dance art, costumes, showing the lyrical, romantic beauty, unique and distinct colors of Hue; the scenery of the river, the city, imprinted with the color of time... - a unique picture of Hue.
Chapter 3 “Still mountains, still water, still long” ends the program with a non-stop singing and dancing scene, combined with Hue art kites flying high. The content focuses on a dynamic Hue city, full of youth, a paradise of love, with four seasons of radiant flowers, like a powerful river from the great forest, gently winding around the beautiful city, flowing out to the vast ocean.
The singing and dancing performance ended the program with the participation of all artists and models participating in the program, colorful Ao Dai in the brilliant light of artistic fireworks. The Organizing Committee of Hue Festival 2023 said that the Hue Ao Dai Festival 2023 brings together 12-15 famous designers from all over the country. The designers do not form a specialized collection according to each theme but according to the story. Each Ao Dai is a work associated with the content of a story.
Hue Ao Dai Festival 2023 and a series of activities of Community Ao Dai Week are highlights of the Autumn Festival - Hue Festival 2023 of the People's Committee of Thua Thien-Hue province.
The Organizing Committee hopes to use this festival to innovate, improve the quality of art and gradually turn the Hue Ao Dai Festival into a unique art program of the Ao Dai capital; regularly serving tourists and the public.
