Pepper price today March 23, 2025 in the domestic market is stable in some key localities, trading from 159,000 - 160,500 VND/kg.

Specifically, pepper price today in Gia Lai is at 159,000 VND/kg.

Pepper prices today in the provinces of Dong Nai (159,000 VND/kg); Dak Lak (160,000 VND/kg); Dak Nong (160,500 VND/kg); Ba Ria - Vung Tau (159,000 VND/kg) and Binh Phuoc (159,000 VND/kg).

Thus, today's pepper price is stable in Dak Lak and Dak Nong while slightly decreasing by 500 VND/kg in the remaining key growing areas. The highest pepper price is at 160,500 VND/kg.

In the first 15 days of March 2025, Vietnam exported 7,139 tons of pepper, reaching a total turnover of 49.1 million USD. The three largest markets for Vietnamese pepper during this period were the US (1,268 tons), India (649 tons) and Germany (638 tons).

In the opposite direction, Vietnam also imported 1,731 tons of pepper, worth 10.3 million USD. Of which, the main import source came from Brazil, accounting for 67.4% with 1,167 tons, followed by Indonesia with 397 tons, accounting for 22.9%.

In the short term, domestic pepper prices are forecast to decrease slightly due to the main harvest season and local supply increases. However, in the international market, pepper prices are expected to continue to increase due to high demand and limited global supply.

Vietnam's pepper and spice industry continues to affirm its important role in the international market with positive export achievements. To maintain sustainable development, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has developed a Project to develop key industrial crops, including pepper, with a vision to 2030.

According to the plan, the pepper growing area nationwide will be adjusted down to about 80,000 - 100,000 hectares. The target by 2030 is to achieve a yield of 24 - 25 quintals/ha, with an output of about 200,000 - 300,000 tons. About 40% of the pepper growing area will meet GAP standards or equivalent, and about 40 - 50% will be given a growing area code to serve traceability.

In addition, the industry will also focus on developing pepper growing areas in an organic direction and according to international standards such as VietGAP, GlobalGAP in key areas such as Dak Nong, Dak Lak, Binh Phuoc, Gia Lai, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau.

At the end of the most recent trading session, the International Pepper Community (IPC) listed the price of Lampung black pepper (Indonesia) at 7,267 USD/ton, down 0.12%; the price of Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 at 7,000 USD/ton; the price of Kuching black pepper (Malaysia) ASTA at 9,900 USD/ton, up 1.01%.

Muntok white pepper price is 10,207 USD/ton, down 0.12%; Malaysian ASTA white pepper price is at 12,400 USD/ton, up 0.81%.

Vietnam black pepper price is traded at 7,100 USD/ton for 500 g/l; 550 g/l at 7,300 USD/ton; white pepper price at 10,100 USD/ton.

IPC reduced pepper prices in Indonesia and increased in Malaysia. In summary of the week, IPC commented that the pepper market this week continued to show mixed reactions, with only Chinese white pepper showing a downward trend.
