What is your perspective on the responsibility of young people in the digital age?
Nowadays, Vietnamese youth are very dynamic and talented. They keep up with the changes of the times very quickly and transform strongly in many fields, demonstrating their qualities and strong character, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of the country. Many successful young people such as young scientists, young entrepreneurs, young social activists, have become the "golden force" to take the country far.
In the digital age, young people are the “lever” to create remarkable progress thanks to their confidence and sharp thinking. They are the pioneers in receiving and applying technology, so the responsibility of young people does not stop at using smart technology, but also contributes to building a healthy digital space. This includes developing critical thinking, using technology ethically, protecting personal information and actively participating in community and social activities in the digital environment.
To do that, young people need to have a strong digital transformation mindset, along with a progressive spirit, updating new things and taking advantage of opportunities to improve their capacity.
How do you assess the role of young people in solving social problems arising from the digital age, such as fake news, cyber security and the digital divide?
The digital age brings many opportunities but also gives rise to new and complex social problems such as fake news, misinformation, online fraud, theft of personal information, or disparities in access to technology between regions and target groups.
A segment of young people are dependent on technology, addicted to social networking platforms, comparing themselves to others online, reducing direct interaction, causing stress, anxiety or depression. Faced with these challenges, young people play a pioneering and creative role in implementing a variety of specific actions in the "popular digital literacy" movement to raise awareness and essential digital skills for people.
Every member of the Youth Union needs to raise awareness, equip themselves with digital skills and have critical thinking to use technology responsibly. Programs to improve information verification skills, critical thinking, digital communication, or digital culture need to be implemented regularly so that young people are equipped with “digital vaccines” to prevent negative impacts from social networks.
In your opinion, what skills and qualities do young people need to equip themselves with to succeed in a digital and constantly changing working environment?
Digital transformation is taking place strongly around the world, creating major changes in the working environment. Many businesses have used artificial intelligence (AI) to streamline workflows, promote automation, and increase personalization on a large scale.
The World Economic Forum (WEF) predicts that 42% of jobs will be automated by 2027 thanks to the deployment of AI and other new technologies. To succeed in a digital and ever-changing workplace, young people need to be equipped with both hard and soft skills, especially flexible thinking and adaptability.
In my opinion, the portrait of a successful young person in the digital age can be outlined through factors such as knowing how to use and exploit technology intelligently; proficiently using online working tools to increase work productivity; applying AI to work to optimize performance as well as developing skills in collecting, analyzing and using data to make the right decisions.
At the same time, they communicate well in the digital environment, take advantage of social networks to build their personal image and develop their careers; are proficient in effective online teamwork tools; have critical thinking to analyze, evaluate information and make logical arguments; know how to use technology to create new ideas and find new solutions.
In particular, young people in the technology era proactively update their knowledge, participate in online courses to promote the spirit of lifelong learning; are ready to adapt, flexible to change, and learn from failure. They use technology responsibly, without violating privacy or professional ethics.

What is your opinion on the impact of social media and online platforms on young people's awareness and behavior, especially in demonstrating civic responsibility?
Social media and online platforms have a two-way influence on young people's perceptions and behaviors, especially in demonstrating civic responsibility.
On the positive side, young people are raised with awareness and responsibility of digital citizenship, updated information quickly and access to many different perspectives to develop multidimensional thinking. Platforms such as YouTube, Coursera, LinkedIn Learning help improve knowledge and train the spirit of self-learning.
Social networks also create opportunities for young people to practice critical thinking, learn how to evaluate information, verify sources of information, and help minimize the harmful effects of fake news and misinformation. From there, young people become more aware and responsible for their words and actions in cyberspace.
However, misinformation and fake news spread quickly on social media, so if not carefully verified, young people can be influenced by fake news, leading to distorted perceptions. On digital platforms, young people can be caught up in toxic trends and dangerous challenges on social media that can have serious consequences.
So, social media is not bad, it is important how we apply it to study, work and life. If exploited properly, young people can develop themselves, demonstrate their digital citizenship responsibilities and create a positive impact on society.
So how can young people balance between taking advantage of the benefits of digital technology and maintaining traditional cultural and ethical values, according to you?
To balance between taking advantage of the benefits of digital technology and maintaining ethical values and media culture, young people can take specific measures.
First, proactively control content and information on social networks, choose content that is consistent with ethical and cultural values; do not let negative trends manipulate your own perception and behavior.
Second, apply technology to develop creative cultural projects as well as preserve traditional arts.
Third, establish boundaries between real life and the digital world, not letting technology destroy polite behavior culture; can apply the principle of "digital detox" when necessary to reduce time spent on social networks and spend time participating in direct activities. At the same time, build a culture of polite digital behavior on social networks.
What suggestions do you have for agencies, organizations and families in supporting young people to develop responsibility and adapt successfully in the digital age?
To support young people to promote responsibility and successfully adapt to the digital age, it is necessary to perfect policies on digital citizenship and information security, and protect user data on social networks.
The Youth Union - Student Association needs to regularly disseminate knowledge, information verification skills, critical thinking, and digital ethics to union members, youth, and students; coordinate with businesses or social organizations to provide technology scholarships for young people to improve their capacity; build digital learning centers for young people in remote areas with limited access to technology; encourage young people to create positive, responsible content; develop codes of conduct, prevent online harassment, and ensure privacy in the digital work environment.
Parents need to accompany their children in cyberspace, guide them to identify fake news, false news as well as protect personal information on social networks, guide them on how to express themselves responsibly on social networks, not to bully online, not to share negative content.
Thank you!
