Stocks suddenly 'surged', money 'rushed' into real estate group

Stock market session on August 16th is filled with blue and purple

After many consecutive declines, the stock market has been in a gloomy state with low liquidity for almost the entire week.

However, in today's trading session (August 16), demand unexpectedly improved positively, helping VN-Index increase points right from the opening.

In the morning, active buying power skyrocketed to a one-month high and liquidity increased by one and a half times yesterday's session, helping the index representing the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange increase by 20 points at the end of the session.

In the early afternoon session, cash flow into the market was more intense. In the end, the total trading value for the day exceeded 26,000 billion VND (more than 1 billion USD). VN-Index surpassed the 1,252 point threshold when it increased by nearly 29 points.

Previously, some securities companies said that if demand shows no signs of improvement and investors maintain a cautious mentality, the VN-Index will inevitably fluctuate in the following sessions.

In today's session, cash flow improved, green covered all industry groups, but the most notable were probably the securities and real estate groups with the strongest cash flow attraction.

In the real estate group alone (+2.7%), almost all codes increased sharply with a breakthrough in trading volume. It has been a long time since investors have seen purple cover when a series of stocks hit the ceiling: DIG, PDR, CEO, DXG, KBC, NVL, HDG, NHA, DXS, CCL, VC7...

In the securities group (+5.61%), stock prices also increased, with many codes hitting the ceiling such as: VIX, FTS, BSI, CTS, BVS, VDS, AGR...

Banking stocks have been very active in contributing to the overall market upturn. In the top 10 stocks that have had a positive impact on the market today, there are 5 banking codes: BID of BIDV, MBB, LPB, CTG of VietinBank, VPB.

Besides the market leading group, other industry groups also increased points such as oil and gas, chemicals, construction, retail...

Classified by capitalization, VN30 today all improved, closing the session up more than 26 points with 29/30 green codes, only Vinamilk's VNM stood at reference price.

In summary, all three floors had 75 stocks hitting the ceiling, 664 stocks increasing in price while only 131 stocks decreased in price. Foreign investors narrowed their net selling momentum with a value of more than 70 billion VND.
