This year, DNSE Securities targets total revenue of VND1,507 billion, up 85% over last year; after-tax profit of VND262 billion, up 44%.
A shareholder questioned whether this target was too ambitious. Responding at the meeting this afternoon, March 19, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha Ninh - DNSE's financial director - said that the company set a high target based on the context of a market wave that is expected to explode in the near future, when KRX comes into operation.
Securities companies’ revenue depends largely on market transactions. According to Ms. Ninh, the company has calculated its business results based on an estimated average trading liquidity this year of about VND21,000 billion/session.
"KRX will go live on April 30 this year. We are confident that we will achieve this year's business plan in the context of such a good stock market forecast," Ms. Ninh told shareholders.
The deadline for announcing the business results report has not yet come, but the leader of DNSE revealed that the company's estimated after-tax profit in the first quarter is about 64 - 65 billion VND. Ms. Ninh explained that for securities companies, the first quarter business results are usually worse because there is a Tet holiday, so there is less trading time.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Giang - Chairman of DNSE - added that this year the Vietnamese stock market is likely to be upgraded, liquidity will increase, this is an important growth driver for securities companies.
Responding to shareholders' concerns about the company's "neglect" of the self-trading sector, Mr. Giang said that the board of directors wants to focus on developing market share and creating sustainable profits.
Mr. Giang said the "key" to making a profit is a sustainable customer base and a good position with service providers.
DNSE leaders revealed that in the first two months of 2025, DNSE recorded an increase of nearly 90,000 newly opened accounts, and outstanding margin loans increased from VND 3,300 billion to VND 4,500 billion, equivalent to an increase of more than 30% since after Tet.
However, the number of new openings increased, DNSE's cumulative accounts reached millions, but the rate of "active" accounts was only over 6%. Although the rate was not high, Mr. Giang believed that when there were registered accounts, the company would have the opportunity to reach customers and the 6% figure, when increased, would bring significant revenue.
The Government is currently reviewing the legal framework for managing digital assets and digital currencies. Mr. Giang said that it will calculate the integration so that investors can buy digital assets when the State allows it.
"Currently, it is just a draft. We are researching technology and security. The most difficult thing is not building the floor, but the issue of security and protecting the safety of investors' assets," Mr. Giang answered shareholders.
More securities companies increase capital
To supplement capital for margin trading loans and bonds... DNSE's general meeting of shareholders today agreed on a plan to increase capital through the issuance of 85.65 million shares to existing shareholders, equivalent to 25% of the number of shares before the issuance date, by exercising purchase rights, at a ratio of 4:1.
The expected minimum offering price is VND12,500/share, expected to raise VND1,070.6 billion. The Board of Directors is authorized to determine the specific offering price. After completing both issuances, DNSE will increase its charter capital to VND4,282 billion.
Another important content approved by the congress is the investment policy, capital contribution to the fund management company and application for a license to deploy warrants.
