From March 18-20, 2025, the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) led a delegation of senior executives from 58 leading US companies to Hanoi as part of its “Business Mission 2025 in Vietnam”, followed by a visit from the Healthcare and Life Sciences Industry delegation on March 20-21. The mission is led by Mr. Ted Osius, President and CEO of USABC, co-led by Brian McFeeters, Senior Vice President and Regional Managing Director of USABC; Mr. Michael Nguyen, Country Director of Boeing Vietnam and Chairman of the Council’s Vietnam Committee; and Mr. Vu Tu Thanh, Deputy Regional Managing Director and Country Representative of the Council for Vietnam.

This year’s mission is particularly significant as it coincides with important political transitions, as well as important milestones in U.S.-Vietnam relations (50 years since the end of the Vietnam War and 30 years since the normalization of diplomatic relations). As 2025 marks a year of change and celebration, this mission provides an early opportunity for member companies to reaffirm their commitment and contribute to strengthening the economic and strategic relationship between Vietnam and the United States.

The mission brings together a diverse group of industry leaders eager to help Vietnam transition to a new phase of economic growth, including companies from sectors where the United States holds global leadership, such as information technology, financial services, logistics, manufacturing, energy, aerospace and defense, healthcare, consumer goods, food and agriculture.

During the three-day visit, the USABC delegation was warmly welcomed by senior leaders of both the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Government. Important bilateral meetings included those of General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Vu Hong Thanh, Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Committee for Policy and Strategy Thai Thanh Quy, and meetings with ministers and deputy ministers of several ministries. In addition, the delegation also met with leaders of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PVN).

The General Secretary highly appreciated the role and practical contributions of the US business community in general and USABC in particular in promoting and enhancing cooperation, investment and business between Vietnam and the US.

"As Vietnam enters a new chapter with a fundamentally reformed and streamlined system, the U.S. business community looks forward to the positive impacts of these changes and exploring the opportunities ahead," said Mr. Ted Osius, adding: "I am honored to lead the largest-ever delegation of top U.S. CEOs on this mission. Their contributions have been instrumental in strengthening and expanding the economic relationship between the United States and Vietnam. This mission is also an opportunity for the business community to demonstrate its long-term commitment, highlight the broad range of interests of U.S. businesses in Vietnam, and strengthen close cooperation between the Vietnamese Government and U.S. businesses."

According to Mr. Michael Nguyen, Country Manager of Boeing Vietnam, USABC’s 2025 mission in Vietnam has created valuable opportunities for Boeing and the US business community to connect with senior officials of the Vietnamese Government and strengthen economic cooperation between the two countries. “As Boeing celebrates 30 years of presence in Vietnam, we look forward to continuing to grow our partnership and promote Vietnam’s aerospace capabilities,” Mr. Michael Nguyen emphasized.

Companies participating in this mission include many big names such as: Amazon, Bay Global Strategies, Boeing Vietnam, Citibank, JPMorgan, S&P Global, Warburg Pincus, FedEx, Ford Motor Company, IBM, Intel Corporation, Meta, Qualcomm Inc., Real-time Robotics, NIKE Viet Nam, Coca-Cola, PepsiCo...
