On the morning of February 10, Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee Pham Van Thieu chaired a press conference to inform about the Vietnam - Bac Lieu Salt Festival 2025.

Accordingly, this event is organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in coordination with the People's Committee of Bac Lieu province in Bac Lieu city and Dong Hai district from March 6 to 8, 2025.

This is the first time salt grains and the salt industry in the country have organized a large-scale festival in Bac Lieu.

The event includes many activities to enhance the value of salt grains such as the inauguration of the infrastructure upgrade project in Dong Hai district; organizing exhibition space, introducing salt, spices and OCOP products; organizing tours to visit tourist attractions, historical sites and organizing a workshop "Orientation and solutions to develop Bac Lieu salt tourism products";

Conference to review Decree 40 of 2017 of the Government on management of salt production and trading and seminar on Bac Lieu salt quality with the production process of traditional Phu Quoc fish sauce.

In particular, in this series of programs, there will also be an investment promotion conference in Bac Lieu province in 2025, with an expected total registered investment capital of about 29,000 billion VND...

Responding to a reporter's question about the budget for organizing the event of about 15 billion VND, equivalent to the total output of a salt crop of the entire Bac Lieu province, what solutions does the province have to make the effectiveness of the event worthy of this budget, Mr. Pham Van Thieu said that the initial estimated budget for organizing the event was about 25 billion VND, then it was reduced to 15 billion VND.

"15 billion VND for a festival is not much for a salt industry. Through the festival, if the local government pays more attention, the government pays more attention, the ministries pay more attention, the country and foreign countries pay more attention, then people will be able to live and get better from salt.

Enterprises will be interested in investing in processing plants, salt storage, support for salt spreading on tarpaulin, traditional salt, loans, at that time policies will have more impact, the Government will be more interested, I think value cannot be calculated in money, no amount of money is equal to the value of salt increased.

And the organization's money is all socialized, mobilizing businesses to have enough money to do it. We mobilize everything, not using the state budget to do this.

A recent survey showed that salt farmers in Hoa Binh and Dong Hai districts were very happy. They said that for generations, little attention was paid to the salt industry, and there was little media coverage of salt, but now there is more media coverage, and journalists' articles are more emotional, and the salty salt has begun to taste sweet," said Mr. Thieu.
