On February 26-27, ChildFund implemented the project "Supporting recovery after typhoon Yagi" in Nguyen Binh and Ha Quang districts (Cao Bang province). The project was implemented with funding from the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade through ChildFund New Zealand.

At four schools including Can Nong, Ngoc Dong (Ha Quang district) and Ca Thanh, Yen Lac (Nguyen Binh district), ChildFund presented hundreds of gifts including school supplies, sanitary equipment and teaching equipment.

The event attracted the participation of 1,225 students aged 6-15, along with 450 parents, teachers and local leaders.

In the first round of support, 255 students with especially difficult circumstances received partial support for their study costs. All remaining students were provided with school supplies, personal hygiene items, and in particular, girls received their own set of hygiene products. The school was also equipped with computers, teaching equipment, cleaning supplies and disinfectants to ensure a safer and more hygienic learning environment.

In addition to providing material support, the project also focuses on psychological support activities for affected students, helping them stabilize their minds and adapt better after natural disasters. At the same time, ChildFund will improve the ability of teachers and schools to respond to natural disaster risks, better preparing for unexpected situations in the future.

Mr. Truong Van Huong, Deputy Head of the Education Department of Ha Quang District, said: "The project's support has timely helped the most disadvantaged students and reduced the burden on schools affected by Typhoon Yagi. We look forward to continued support from ChildFund Vietnam and sponsors."

As planned, the project will be implemented in 6 schools in 3 districts: Nguyen Binh, Thach An, Ha Quang, localities heavily affected by storm Yagi.
