Protecting more than 43 km of border
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, the National Assembly Delegation of Hai Duong province visited and presented gifts to the Hoanh Mo Border Guard Station, Binh Lieu district (Quang Ninh).
At the meeting, Lieutenant Colonel Vi Tien Nghiep, Deputy Political Commissar of Hoanh Mo Border Guard Station, gave an overview of the local situation and the unit.
Binh Lieu district has a 43.168 km long border, where 96% of ethnic minorities live. The whole district has 41 border markers, this is also the locality with the largest number of national border markers in Quang Ninh.
Directly visiting border marker 1305, the highest marker in Quang Ninh province, members of the working delegation of the National Assembly Delegation of Hai Duong province shared the hard work and perseverance of officers and soldiers at the Hoanh Mo Border Guard Station.
The road up to milestone 1305 has many steep sections, some of which are like walking on a "dinosaur's back" with nearly 2,000 steps that can easily make climbers give up halfway.
Although the road to the milestone is difficult, officials and tourists are all excited to conquer it. Milestone 1305 is made of granite and is engraved with the national names of Vietnam and China in writing, as well as the milestone number and year of its installation.
Being able to directly touch the sacred milestone of the Fatherland, everyone was filled with emotions and felt proud and loved the Fatherland more.
"The station is home, the border is homeland"
Introduced by Lieutenant Colonel Vi Tien Nghiep, we quickly met fellow officers and soldiers in the border land.
That is Captain Nguyen Van Sy, Armed Team Leader of Hoanh Mo Border Guard Station, from Pham Thai ward, Kinh Mon town (Hai Duong).
Captain Sy has worked at the border for decades. After working at many different stations, Captain Sy has been at Hoanh Mo station for over a year now, in charge of the border patrol team.
Although he was nearly 200 km away from his hometown, Captain Sy excitedly asked: "My hometown Kinh Mon has just celebrated the reception of the Second Class Labor Medal and was recognized as a class III urban area, right?". The whole hall was happy because even though he was far away from his hometown, Captain Sy always followed the situation at home.
Continuing, professional military lieutenant colonel Tran Van Huan, Armed Forces of Hoanh Mo Border Post, also enthusiastically admitted his hometown is Hai Duong city.
Lieutenant Colonel Huan performs border patrol duties with his team, clearing and cleaning border markers. "Not only guarding and ensuring security and order in the border area, officers and soldiers of the Hoanh Mo Border Guard Station are also a bridge to propagate and mobilize people to comply with the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's laws and policies. The station is home, the border is the homeland, and people of all ethnic groups are blood brothers and sisters," added Lieutenant Colonel Huan.
Major Le Van Vung, an officer at the Hoanh Mo Border Guard Station, Hoanh Mo Border Guard Station, from Bach Dang Commune (Kinh Mon), said: "As a mountainous and border area, the lives of the people of Binh Lieu here mainly depend on agricultural production. The residents in the area are mainly ethnic minorities with limited education, making them vulnerable to being taken advantage of by bad guys, luring them into helping smuggle goods illegally across the border. With the spirit of not being subjective or negligent, the officers and soldiers here have had many drastic solutions to prevent illegal entry and exit, while effectively fighting smuggling and trade fraud."
Talking with officers and soldiers of the Hoanh Mo Border Guard Station, especially 3 border guards from Hai Duong, Deputy Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Hai Duong Province Nguyen Thi Viet Nga shared: "On this very meaningful occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, I would like to express my deep gratitude for the silent sacrifice for the peace of the people of officers and soldiers of the army in general, and the Hoanh Mo Border Guard Station in particular".
Saying goodbye to the soldiers of the Hoanh Mo Border Guard Station, the members of the delegation wished the soldiers wearing "green uniforms" good health, to bravely guard the border of the Fatherland and be a reliable support for the people.
