Chau Thanh - the first district of Long An to meet advanced new rural standards

Chau Thanh District is honored to become the first district in Long An province to be recognized as an Advanced New Rural District in 2023. The announcement and awarding ceremony was held by the Provincial People's Committee on March 20.

Attending the ceremony were Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation - Nguyen Thanh Hai; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Minh Lam; Heroic Vietnamese Mothers; former provincial leaders, leaders of departments, branches, leaders of Chau Thanh district and typical local people.

From a district facing many difficulties, Chau Thanh has strived to rise up and become the first district to meet the province's NTM standards in 2019. Now, the district continues to make its mark as the first locality to complete the advanced NTM criteria.

Chau Thanh district has 12/12 communes meeting advanced NTM standards, 5 communes meeting model NTM standards and 1 town meeting civilized urban standards. Traffic is developed synchronously and connectedly, ensuring smooth operation; all schools meet national standards, the rate of people participating in health insurance is over 96%. In particular, the district focuses on developing dragon fruit production areas and high-tech shrimp farming, helping to increase average income per capita to 71 million VND/year, reduce the poverty rate to 0.36%, and the rate of people's satisfaction with the results of building advanced NTM is over 99%.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Minh Lam congratulated Chau Thanh district on achieving advanced new rural standards, recognizing the efforts and consensus of the Party Committee, government and people in socio-economic development, improving the material and spiritual life of the people.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Lam - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee: " The streamlining of the apparatus, the arrangement of administrative boundaries of the province in general, and localities in the province in particular, although there are changes, the national target program on building new rural areas must continue to be implemented. Therefore, I request that the provincial departments, branches, sectors, unions and grassroots levels continue to overcome limitations and difficulties, to maintain and improve the quality of the criteria for advanced new rural districts, to achieve even higher results. At the same time, promote the development of increasingly synchronous, modern, multi-purpose socio-economic infrastructure, develop production, increase income of people in rural areas, consider this a responsibility and a top priority in implementing the program. In which, focus on restructuring the agricultural sector, mobilizing people to maintain and develop local advantageous crops and livestock and continue to implement the goals of developing high-tech agriculture, organic agriculture, supporting the development of linkage chains."

Achieving the advanced NTM standard is not only the pride of the whole district but also an important motivation for communes in the area to continue to strive, improve the quality of life for people, towards building increasingly sustainable rural development.

On this occasion, many collectives and individuals received certificates of merit from the Provincial People's Committee and certificates of merit from the District People's Committee for their outstanding achievements in building Chau Thanh district to meet advanced NTM standards.
