Prof. Dr. Truong Quoc Phu (School of Aquaculture - Can Tho University) presented the developments in environmental quality of brackish water shrimp farming areas and management measures.
Thereby, the delegates discussed and raised many issues showing a panoramic picture of shrimp farming, advantages and difficulties from the environment, breeds, food, biological products, waste, diseases, etc.
Many delegates said that climate change, complex and erratic weather developments will be the causes of diseases in farmed shrimp. Therefore, farmers need to closely monitor to have appropriate technical solutions. Deploy and replicate effective models, apply scientific and technical advances, and advanced technology in production.
From the issues raised at the workshop, delegates also agreed to implement a number of tasks and solutions in 2025. Accordingly, effectively implement approved planning schemes, especially the shrimp industry development planning scheme, prioritize irrigation, electricity, and transportation infrastructure for each key shrimp farming area, creating favorable conditions for the development of the local shrimp industry; promote awareness of environmental protection and disease prevention; limit the use of antibiotics and chemicals in shrimp farming, and manage safe and sustainable farming areas.
