Speaking at Nvidia's annual developer conference, held in a packed stadium in San Jose, California, CEO Huang announced a series of software tools that make it easier for humanoid robots to move and interact with their environments.

After his speech, when answering reporters' questions about signs that artificial intelligence (AI) has become popular, Mr. Huang commented:

“Maybe that’s when humanoid robots are actually walking around us – this isn’t a matter of five years. This is a matter of a few years.”

According to Huang, the manufacturing industry will be the first field to widely apply humanoid robots, because this is an environment with clearly defined and controllable tasks.

“I think humanoid robots will be introduced into factories first, because this environment is highly regulated and the robot's tasks are very specific,” Huang said.

He also said the cost of renting a humanoid robot would be around $100,000, a reasonable price compared to the benefits it brings in production.

The race to develop humanoid robots is more exciting than ever, with the participation of many large technology companies such as Tesla, Boston Dynamics, Agility Robotics and Figure AI. Some robot models such as Tesla's Optimus or Agility Robotics' Digit have been tested in production lines to replace manual labor.

Beyond manufacturing, experts predict that humanoid robots will soon be deployed in areas such as logistics, healthcare, and customer service, especially as AI becomes increasingly intelligent and can learn how humans interact with the environment.
