Nhon Trach Bridge connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Dong Nai before the closing date

(Dan Tri) - Nhon Trach Bridge, part of the 1A Ring Road 3 component project in Ho Chi Minh City, after nearly 2 years of construction, has entered the closing stage and is about to be completed.

The Nhon Trach Bridge Project, part of the Component 1A Project, Tan Van Nhon Trach - Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3, has reached the first main spans joining stage. This is the key stage in the construction of cantilevered bridges, connecting the bridge spans across the river by girder segments. The joint position is in the middle of the bridge with the joint segment about 2m long. At the site inspection, Mr. Tran Van Thi, Director of My Thuan Project Management Board (under the Ministry of Transport - investor), said that up to now, the project has reached more than 82% of the volume, 4 months ahead of the contract schedule. With this positive progress, Mr. Thi requested the units to plan to deploy other important items in parallel such as railings, casting median strips, and mobilizing asphalt concrete stations in September to deploy the bridge completion work according to plan. Compared to September 2022 (the time of construction commencement), many bridge spans have been connected, the construction volume has reached 82%. Machinery and workers are constructing the bridge deck from piers P13-P17. According to the design, the bridge deck is 19.5m wide with 4 lanes (phase 1), with a hard median strip in the middle. From now until the end of the year, Nhon Trach Bridge will be fully closed, vehicles and construction personnel can move between the two banks of Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai. After that, the project will continue to enter the completion phase and be inaugurated on April 30, 2025. These spans are also navigation bays during the exploitation phase with a horizontal clearance of 110m and a height of 30.5m each. The Component 1A Project of Ring Road 3, Tan Van - Nhon Trach section, was approved by the Ministry of Transport in 2016 and last adjusted in June 2022. The project is built on the scale of a grade III plain road, with a design speed of 80km/h; 20.5-26m wide, 4 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 mixed lanes. The Tan Van - Nhon Trach section, phase 1, plays a role in shortening the journey from Nhon Trach district, Dong Nai province, to Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City. The route also connects Ho Chi Minh City with the Eastern and Southwestern provinces; especially in remote traffic separation and reducing congestion on inner-city routes. The total investment of Project 1A is 6,900 billion VND, of which ODA capital from Korea is nearly 4,176 billion VND. The remainder is counterpart capital from the Government of Vietnam, with central capital of about 529 billion VND, the rest is the budget of Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City.
