The international educational environment follows international standards in terms of quality, training programs, teaching methods, teaching staff, facilities, learner experience, etc.
To meet these standards, in addition to international universities based in Vietnam, a number of private universities have gradually affirmed that the quality of their training environment is increasingly approaching international educational standards.
It is known that in the 2023-2024 school year, Van Lang University (VLU) welcomed more than 1,000 international students to study, exchange culture, participate in academic competitions, and implement community projects; at the same time, implementing student exchange programs in many countries, receiving much attention from parents and university admission candidates.
Van Lang University (VLU) was established in 1995 in the process of socializing education. Right from the first years of its establishment, the school had very successful international cooperation with the first projects on environment, training human resources not only for the school but also for Vietnam.
The school also soon became a member of many prestigious international organizations such as the Francophone University Organization (Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie, AUF), the Passage to ASEAN Network (P2A), an associate member of AUN - the Southeast Asian University Network, etc., creating joint training activities, expanding international connections, and agreeing on strict rules and clear criteria to evaluate and guarantee the quality of education.
In the past 5 years, the school has promoted its internationalization strategy, investing heavily and comprehensively to create an international standard learning and training environment for students.
In 2024, the school officially entered the THE Impact Rankings 2024 - a global ranking of the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations. Previously, the school was ranked 117th among universities in Southeast Asia by QS, top 701-750 best universities in Asia, meeting FIBAA standards, 4-star QS Stars ranking, many training programs meeting AUN-QA quality accreditation standards of Southeast Asia. These are signs showing that the university education environment at Van Lang is increasingly approaching international standards.
It is known that the school is also implementing international joint undergraduate and graduate training programs, expanding valuable international courses, cooperating with leading partners such as Liverpool John Moores University (UK), Angelo State University (USA), Edge Hill University (UK), University of Perpignan (France), Asian Institute of Technology - AIT (Thailand), ...
Having decided to put her university studies on hold, Vo Thu Nhi was supported by her family to become a student in the first course of the International Business program in 2023 when she heard that the school was opening an international training program in conjunction with Edge Hill University (UK). Nhi is now a second-year student of the program and has participated in many interesting learning experiences.
She shared: "I chose Van Lang as the destination to start my university journey again. Here, I experienced a modern learning environment, an original training program from the UK and "high-end" international experiences. This makes me more confident in my studies. This year's admission season, my younger sister Vo Thu Trang also applied for the school's Graphic Design major."
In addition to improving the training program to compare with prestigious universities in the world and developing international training programs, the school expands study abroad opportunities for students.
With a network of partners in nearly 30 countries, Van Lang students of all training majors have the opportunity to participate in experiential programs, exchange semesters at prestigious international universities and paid internship programs at many large enterprises.
Currently interning at Harbour Ridge Yacht and Country Club in Florida, USA, Tran Thi Phuong Thao - a student of the 27th course of Hotel Management at Van Lang University - said: "At first, I was like a child who had to relearn everything by myself to adapt to the new environment. At work, I thoroughly applied and developed the lessons learned in class at VLU.
This is also an opportunity for me to participate in community events, improve my foreign language skills, soft skills and broaden my multidisciplinary and multicultural knowledge. I have really expanded my limits, learned to be independent, self-care and responsible for everything in my personal life."
In addition to the buildings serving teaching and learning, Van Lang students experience a modern dormitory with more than 1,000 student accommodations, a Dentistry - Maxillofacial practice area with Asia's leading equipment, a hotel practice area with high-class F&B services, a Technology - Engineering practice area, a Finance - Banking simulation practice room, an Olympic swimming pool, a large hall, a studio, a VR-AR room, an interactive classroom, etc.
Modern classrooms, sports and service areas, and upgraded facilities for specific majors, applying advanced technology to equip students with solid capacity, ready to adapt to future career development trends.
Recently, the school held a topping-out ceremony for the G2 building, part of the final construction phase of the Van Lang Education Complex, including four buildings: the Health Sciences Building, the Engineering and Technology Building, the International Building and the Innovation Center (R&D), which will complete the shape of one of the largest and most modern university campuses in the country.
The international block (G2) can accommodate modern conference space for international events and classrooms of various sizes, functional areas of the library, practice areas, basements providing many entertainment facilities such as cinemas and other services, continuing to enhance the experience of life at Van Lang.
Based on signed cooperation agreements, Van Lang University implements throughout each semester lecturer exchange activities, organizes international academic playgrounds, international student training programs, cultural experience programs and community project development activities.
In July 2024, VLU welcomed 31 international students to study, experience and exchange cultures within the framework of the SDG Summer School in VietNam season 3 program. The program aims to contribute to promoting international exchange and towards the development of 17 sustainable development goals.
Sophie Marie Coombs - a member of the SDG Summer School program - said: "The lecturers and students of Van Lang welcomed us very warmly, always interested in asking questions and sharing many interesting things about Vietnamese history and culture. In particular, I have a better understanding of sustainable development goals through group activities. From there, I also met many new friends and became more connected together."
Having studied at Van Lang University for a longer period of time, Milla Suominen - a 2nd year student majoring in Marketing and Sales, Haaga-Helia University (Finland) - started a 1-semester international student exchange program at Van Lang from February 2024.
Milla Suominen said: "My first impression of Van Lang is very good. The facilities are beautiful, the food is delicious and quite to my taste. The school's dormitory is secure and fully equipped with amenities and services, helping me and my family feel more secure about our study journey in Vietnam. This semester, I hope to improve my foreign language skills, make new friends and have many new experiences. I will definitely learn a little Vietnamese too."
In addition, VLU also welcomes many world-leading experts to participate in public lectures, seminars, scientific research cooperation, develop international projects, and discuss issues of global concern.
By creating an international learning environment right on campus, Van Lang students have the opportunity to be exposed to a variety of international cultures, creating a foundation for building international relationships, opportunities to exchange knowledge and experience to be ready to become global citizens in the future.
